Things you notice in movies you haven't watched in a while

Watched Airplane! and realized just how dated the hair/clothes really was. I mean, it was depressing! And then it hit me, as the main character walked through the airport- I remember Krishnas and what-not hanging around but I haven't seen anything like that in years....

It no longer represents reality, where once it did, albeit in an absurd fashion.

Yeah, I don't recall ever seeing Krishnas at the airport, even though I'd see them there all the time on TV. What the hell were those guys and where did they go?

For the most part, they got normal, I think. There are still hundreds of thousands of of Gaudiya Vaishnavas in North Am, as far as I know, and ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) is still around, albeit in weakened form after a child molestation rap financially ruined it (see, it's not just Catholics).

Not only a child molestation charge, but a murder charge too, as recounted in a couple of news stories, most especially one called 'Dial OM For Murder' published in Rolling Stone in the mid '80s.

What they should do is take their 'Hare Krishna' song and auto-tune it; since it's the same words repeated ad nauseum, it's a guaranteed pop hit.

That reminds me of this SCTV skit:

As I mention in my other tread, I've been watching T&T2 recently. I'm amazed it only occurred to me last night the reason that Sarah Connor has acquired a dog at the end of The Terminator. Sometimes, I worry about myself!

Oddly enough, the dog is useless unless another Terminator came for her .

I thought that *was* the reason she'd got a dog...

Me too. Don't tell me that I only pick up on something 26 years later, only for that something to be completely the wrong something.....!

watched Raiders of the Lost Ark yesterday for the first time since the mid 90's, had to rewind the dvd on a scene near the end where a fly lands on Belloq's face and walks into his mouth

that WAS why she got the dog. it's also why John has Max in T2.

What threw me at first was when 'Uncle Bob' mimics John's voice and speaks to his foster mom and calls the dog 'Wolfy'. then i realised that it was a trick because the T-1000 doesn't know the dog's name and calls it Wolfy too.

You tend to notice actors in bit parts who have later gone on to bigger things, like Alfred Molina as Indy's partner at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark, or Jim Caviezel as one of the pilots in the Alcatraz raid at the end of The Rock. Or that shot of Sigourney Weaver's breast in Ghostbusters because one of the demon hands pulled down the front of her blouse.
