Things About Fanboys That have Always Frustrate Me

I feel ashamed to admit this but I liked "Faith of the Heart". Well, at least the first version. When they tweaked it for the later season it lost the charm it had for me.

I don't quite get the big deal though. If you don't like an intro then can't you just mute it until it's over or fast forward if watching it recorded?

You're not alone, Tralah. And got a big ol' for anyone who had a problem with the F word (faith) being featured in anything Star Trek related.

I liked the theme tune too.

The first version that is. I thought it was quite powerful.

The tweaked version lost all the power, same as the DS9 theme.

Yeah I agree. It was silly that they bitched about "Faith of the Heart" when instead they could have been bitching about the formulaic and uninspired writing.

Seriously, what a stupid stupid post. The whole thing comes down to "wahh you don't like what I like, now let me try to come up with some rationalizations other than it doesn't make me feel good"

Yeah, it's the fans fault they didn't like something.

Exactly, until they hit Season four. They eff up the theme, yet the show vastly improves, truly becomes Trek. If it had been allowed to go on after that point, we would have gotten some of the best Trek we've gotten in a very long time, I'm convinced.

I couldn't agree more. On all points.

The only thing worse than irritating fanboys who can't seem to help themselves is people who get self righteous and pontificate about said fanboys.

Sure. In fact, that's what I did.

The big deal is that I love good intros. Especially Star Trek ones. I've got fond memories of sitting right in front of a tiny TV screen, hearing Patrick Stewart's echoing voice say the opening monologue, with a blast of Jerry Goldsmith following, triumphant.

I'm still like that. I never fast forward through the Dexter intro (on tonight, yay!); nor did I do so during Charlie Jade. I enjoy intros.

So ENT having a bad intro was a disappointment.

I thoroughly enjoyed them, myself. Satisfying exploration of the Rama starship and it's universe.
Aw, darn. I'm going to have to come up with something either more obscure or more unpopular next time. Nobody likes Alexei Tolstoy, right?

Yeh, sure, Tolstoy sucks. Some being forced at gradepoint to read him may generate sufficient antipathy.

:bolian:

I personally disliked "Faith of the Heart" because its a lame song, but unfortunately Enterprise's problems ran a lot deeper than that.

Hearing the opening theme from Enterprise during its series premiere was just one of those jaw-dropping "WTF" moments that I'll never forget. You can't fault people for being horrified.
