If it's going to be televised slop from the deepest recesses of ao3 like season 3 then no thank you, consider the regression that would befall characters like Kim, even if they gave him captain's pips he would just be stood behind ops with one line about the sensors.

Oh they'd have found ways to cater to it. The computer calling him Ensign Kim. Camera angles positioned so you only see one pip or the ship gets hit and he gets knocked into the wall causing all but one pip to fall off.
