"These are the wrong people, in the wrong place"

Only remember it twice, maybe 3 times. In each a different episodes. It's not repetitive when its a fact so obviously true.

Jack saying it on earth? He was referring to when gate first opened and how it applies now.

The next was the colonel telling that gal off about her pushing about the lottery and to pick people by hand. It's not exactly out of context or unrealistically done.

I don't really get the "wrong people, in the wrong place" tagline.Sure, (some of) these people weren't meant to go on this mission, but (outside of Chloe) they're all highly trained soldiers and/or scientists in the Stargate program. John Shepard was more out of his element than any of these bozos, and he never made a fuss about it.

Putting aside the John Sheppard analogy (the random loner who just happens to be the perfect SG recruit):

I assume that the massive SG program has resulted in training "levels." They have to settle for less trained individuals as back-up for large encampments.

It's also possible that the whole training program went straight to hell once Hammond left the mountain. Who knows what people are being taught these days? O'Niell has already made fun of how at least one of the ships was run (the whole "I am prepared" scene).

Wouldn't that one hot officer chick be, technically, the breast and the brightest? :guffaw:

Thank you thank you, I'm here all night, don't forget to tip your servers. :D

Yes, "these are the wrong people" and "I shouldn't be here" seem to pop up in pretty much every episode.

Don't tell me the former was said in 'Water' as well??

I don't think it was said but the CO and XO were on a gate mission cutting ice when an alien showed up aboard the ship which left the "medic" to deal with the real crisis. :vulcan:

Good point Star Wolf... it's like these folks are taking their cues from Classic Trek: Send the highest ranking officers out. I would have thought Lt Scott and Angry Black Guy should have gone to look for ice.

I'm wondering if there are a lot of projects the Stargate program is working on so the talent is spread out. The 'one more chevron' project is one that might not have had any obvious usefulness so it got the second stringers ( a polite way to say 'not the best and brightest' ).

It's annoying as hell in the term of "these are the wrong people, in the wrong place", if they're working together to solving the problems, we wouldn't have heard those words.

Yeah that sort of blew my mind. Apparently he didn't get the memo that Colonels manage the fight, they don't go out searching for water while leaving the least qualified individual in charge

They said Young had arctic experience at least half-a-dozen times, so maybe he was the only qualified one to actually get the water.

Also the Lt. mentioned that someone else had EVA experience and he could go instead of the colonel. I get the impression there aren't a lot of EVA trained people on the ship. Perhaps that combined with his other experience made him best for the job.

Regardless of the quality of other individuals on the Destiny: it's clear that Colonel Young has zero faith in just about anybody other than himself. That doesn't bode well for his ability to command.

Thats sort of the impression i got as well. Afterall if they really thought the Ninth Chevron project was going to lead to a massive payoff in Ancient knowledge and technology, wouldnt Daniel be clamouring to go with them like he was with Atlantis?

I don't think that's true he never would've put TJ in charge in Water if he felt that way.

It doesn't help that they used it in nearly all the promos and use it in the opening recap in each episode.
