"These Are the Voyages" as a 'true' series finale

It was the biggest piece of shit Star Trek ever produced. I'm embarrassed to say it because of all those Riker's willy episodes and weird is this racism episodes but it WAS! It was horrible. Valentine to the fans, it's almost poetic that this turd has such a title. It's beyond awful. I'm glad treklit, dull as it was, rectified Trip's MEANINGLESS death, I will go on with that in my heart. As to Riker "computer, end program" indeed.

Yup. I'd love to see Tilly on Discovery talk about her engineering class with Trip and T'Pol's kid and be rid of that crap ending.

Talking of Disco, they showed how to do a "Valentine to the fans" with "If Memory Serves"...
...a sequel to Trek's first ever episode, which probably doesn't make much sense unless you've seen "The Cage" and they made it an integral part of the current season-long arc, brining Spock back to sanity and resolving the mystery of his split with Michael years prior.

Ohh I didn't know Spock was ever insane and who is Michael any way? The human female Sarek so desperately cares and loves? Really, who buys this? Not be offended, I am asking as non-Discovery consumer, while I do no like how CBS handle with the ST-customers. I have some Discovery fans from my ST-people, but most of them saying it is kind of space soap opera for the drama queens with some fantasy elements. I would say, when I read such spoilers each time, I think they maybe have right. And if it is so, that cannot be "Valentine for fans" either, imho.

I find the show entertaining. Judging without watching... not so much.

I am not judging or assuming anything. That's why I am using phareses like " I would say" , "if it is so", "imho". Did you really read what I wrote?
I am openly saying that I didn't watch the show and so far CBS goes with their customers in this way, I won't consume their products.
And being conscious customer is more important than entertaining for me- although I am not sure if an insane Spock will entertain me- . What you do is not my issue.

I did read the post, but it was worded confusingly, so maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like you were judging something you hadn't watched. That renders any opinion moot, as it stops being one if it relies solely on the assessments of third parties. That's the difference between an opinion and a preconception. If I understood that post incorrectly, I apologise. It's nothing personal. I just don't understand why someone would waste their energy talking smack about something they don't even know.

Let's agree to disagree.

Thank you very much caring about my wasted energies, thank you this time judging my actions not as "asking for trouble". ;)
I am sure you have also people that you know and enjoy their meanings about the things, that you are not very familiar. And I am sure, you take not everything as a dogma what they tell you. That's why I asked here (is it for you energy wasting, really?) , if the things correct, what I read here I would not call it a good thing/Valentine/ entertaining for me as ST-fan.
What is so confusingly for you, I did not get it, sorry.

hopefulRomantic thanks for directing me to this thread, as written in the other one I just wanted to chime in that I thought the going's on with Trip in TATV were fishy (the "winking even though on the verge of dying" stuff) - for me it is does not make sense to assume that Trip died.

I really started to enjoy Enterprise in Season 3 and 4 (and obviously I enjoyed it enough in Season 1 and 2 to continue watching), so a shame that it was cancelled so soon. I just finished watching it two days ago, and I think it's so much better than the current incarnation of Star Trek (I won't digress because that would be off topic here).

Just wanted to say here that I loved Enterprise despite some of it's shortcomings, it had a very cool crew (I grew up with Star Trek Next Gen which is my favorite all around but Enterprise is nearly on a par for me due to the crew), I hated TATV which really was a low point, and Trip was my favorite character - and in my personal universe the TATV occurrences as depicted are not canonical :)

I agree with what I read in some other threads that Terra Prime should be considered as the legit ending of the show.

So I went and rewatched this utter piece of crap of an episode just to see the scene in question. While I'm absolutely no apologist for TATV, I will say that my interpretation of the wink scene is different from yours. Trip is in sickbay with Archer, Phlox and two other ofiicers. If Trip really was faking it all, there'd be no reason to keep that info from Phlox (who would know if he was faking anyway) or any other Starfleet officers in the room. Unless the wink was improvised by Trineer and Bakula just went along with it, Trip's winking just seemed to be an indication that he'd think he'd pull through, with Archer supporting that feeling by winking back. Of course, the very next scene shows that this didn't happen.

Now, of course, I could take this opportunity to say how utterly ridiculous it was that no one else, not even T'Pol and Archer, had a reaction to Trip's death in any way, even though it literally just happened right before the signing scene. Everyone's all smiling and happy, and acting completely oblivious that one of their closest crewmates who'd they'd been serving with for ten years just died in the dumbest way ever.

But I won't go there.

When a show is cut like this, you wonder......there must have been more. What was left on the proverbial cutting room floor.

Well, the deleted scenes folder of the software in the Edit Bay.

Maybe there was a mountain of material shot, because you have your last budget, and it’s ambitious, but now you’re cutting for the time budget, and whoops, sorry, but we tried, ran out of time.

That stuff, I want to see.

They probably will in order to sell boxed gift sets of the blu-ray in 4hd or something promotional- they know their audience and they know we'll pay. We won't like it but we'll pay.

JK, we love it.

I doubt there was much extra footage, if any. The episode was extremely rushed, so there wouldn’t have been time for tons of extra footage.
