The X-Men Cinematic Universe (General Discussion)

Now this wouldn't be nearly as hilarious if they hadn't JUST RELEASED A TRAILER that said February 14th.. :guffaw:

As Yoda might say, "About this, a bad feeling do I have."
Well, this is rather disappointing and a little concerning. I still have high hopes.

This, however, is hysterical. When was it originally suppose to come out? 2015? 2016? :guffaw:

Well, this is rather disappointing and a little concerning.

Disapointing I understand; concerning not so much.

As I noted, this new delay has very little to do with Dark Phoenix itself and is actually about accommodating a re-release for Deadpool 2 and maximizing the box office for Alita: Battle Angel.

Which is why I said little. But please, talk down to me again. I know I'm not only one who "loves" that.

It's going to be up against Godzilla King of the Monsters, Toy Story 4 and Secret Life of Pets 2.

It's dead on arrival.

Oooo.
I'm way more interested in Godzilla than this X-men movie... yeah. I know where my money is going.
Yeah, I'm more interested in both Godzilla and Toy Story 4, so unless the next few weeks after are dead this will probably end up being an Amazon streaming rental for me.

I just have to laugh at their group photos they release because NOTHING has turned out the way Fox wanted

Only five people here are still with the franchise

Tatum looks like he's failing a grade and having to repeat the year with new classmates. They keep including him when nothings been happening.

These actors really inhabited their roles and their chemistry was the best part of these recent films. Whoever they get to replace these actors, including Nic Holt as Hank McCoy, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, etc., will have big shoes to fill.
Well, they won't need to worry about Quicksilver. He went down like a punk in Age of Ultron.

Whoever replaces Lawrence won't really have big shoes to fill. As long as they aren't phoning it in, pretty much anyone would be better then Lawrence at this point. As for Hank, he's ok but his character isn't written well and he's following literally the best casting for Dr. Hank McCoy that is possible with actors who were around at the time, Kelsey Grammer (X-Men 3 being bad pisses me off more for wasting Grammer then almost anything else it did wrong). I'm not huge on either Quicksilver, so I'm neutral to whatever happens with him.

FOX Quicksilver isn't even that well done, the MCU one was closer in how he actually acts while the FOX one is just a Flash wannabe who happens to have impressive (but ill-conceived) power scenes...

...Which are themselves just ripped off from Futurama.

I can't belive we are having this discussion. Years of people complaining that X3 barely resembled the actual Dark Phoenix story, and when we finally get a movie that's a real adaption suddenly X3 did it all before.

It being written (and now directed too) by the same screenwriter sure doesn't inspire confidence in me.

You are one gullible person. Maybe you'll tell us that Ben Affleck is still playing Batman next?

Reported doesn't mean factual. This movie is not going to see the light of day. Disney might eventually put it out on home video as a minor curiosity.
While I do still believe that the movie will make it to the theater, I also believe that it would go to the Disney streaming service before it would go straight to home video.

As for the change in the release date, I read somewhere today (but can't find the link) that the trailer did surprisingly well in China, and the new release date is so they can put the movie into more theaters over there.

You really need to lighten up with the cynicism, because it makes it hard for anyone to take you seriously.

I don't think Disney would put the film up against TS4 so it currently seeming to be real close to it does seem suspicious.

Disney - which will not assume control of FOX's assets until sometime next year - has nothing to do with the decision to shift Dark Phoenix's release date again, which, as previously noted, has nothing to do with the film itself and is motivated entirely by marketing and business strategies related to Deadpool 2 and Alita: Battle Angel (unwarranted cynicism notwithstanding).
