Spoilers The X-Files: Season 11

When I saw the Cliffhanger was just a "vision" or dream of Scully I was like, "Forget this" and refused to watch it anymore. i hate shows that do stuff like that then add all this extra convoluted stuff that I have to go back to past episodes and figure out because I have no idea what they are talking about. I watched the Amazing Race instead.

Can't say I blame ya there. Swear that's what this show does a lot. Cop out on things.

That said, I'm looking forward to Darin's ep. Just in part to get last week's out of my head in part. Didn't mind the case, but damn... it was like watching some really weird/strange fan fic. :wtf:

But I did love this.

I just realized something from this ep: https://stupideffinbee.tumblr.com/post/170023633792/notwidelyunderstooddefinition-all-things-7x17

Big thanks to notwidelyunderstooddefinition for posting this gifset via Tumblr.

Scully left unsure in All Things. Mulder didn’t. It’s the mirror to it.

Scully was a bit unsure here... but Mulder stayed to comfort her. And then she was confident. And went for the second round .

These are two adults who know what they want in the end.

CC be damned.

Now the non physicality makes some sense.

‘All Things’ was VERY implied in that regard. Didn’t have any real physicality either.

I am happy to see that people seem to be enjoying this season. I haven't watched it yet ( i hated the last season and last movie, so I decided to give this one a miss). I'm considering watching this one at some later date, after the season is complete. We'll see.

Enjoy!

New episode tonight
The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat
Exploring the Mandela Effect, in which large groups of people remember an alternate history, Mulder and Scully learn how the X-Files themselves may have originated.
This is this season's Darin Morgan comedy episode, so it should be a good one.

Liked tonight's ep ok. Wasn't the best, but I appreciated how Darin treated M and S with respect along with doing the same with their history and their relationship. Bravo, sir. :)

Yeah, I'm not watching this season. I wait till it's over, look at reviews and then get the good episodes on itunes, I already know I'll skip the Chris Carter eps, those are always shit.

Pure gold. From the "Twilight Zone" send-up at the beginning to "Where are they taking Reggie?" at the end.

Curious though, I was discussing the "Mandela Effect" with my wife at breakfast this morning after seeing a man on the soundless restaurant TV who, for a brief moment, I thought was the late Tim Russert as he might look today. I called this a "Reverse Mandela Effect" , thinking someone alive who was actually dead.

A quote to consider: "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. But the problem is a real one, not a mere intellectual game. Because today we live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups--and the electronic hardware exists to deliver these pseudo-worlds right into the head of the reader, the viewer, the listener."-Phillip K. Dick, Introduction to the short-story collection: "I Hope I Shall Arrive Soon" -1985

And just who was Dr. They anyhow?

We have found the aliens and they are us...

This was a very silly episode and I loved every damn moment.

I wonder if the casting of Brian Huskey as Reggie Something was a deliberate wink to his role on People on Earth, whose character Richard is just a "dialed down" version of Reggie. Even if it wasn't deliberate, I loved the connection nonetheless.

So many great absurdities, but I especially loved the exploration of the Mandela Effect (I'm sorry, the Mengele Effect), complete with direct references to Shazaam/Kazaam and indirect references to The Berenst(a)ein Bears (damnit, it was always The Berenstein Bears!).

Best of all, perhaps the best explanation for Donald Trump...which leaves me both laughing and crying at the same time.

And like all great X-Files episodes, some of the episode is debunked, but at the same time, leaving open the question "But what about...?"

Pure gold. From the "Twilight Zone" send-up at the beginning to "Where are they taking Reggie?" at the end.
And everything from Mulder's goofy story which Scully hung up on, to Reggie referring to Scully as "Skulls", to her saying that lime Jell-O tasted like "Leprachan taint".

Loved this episode. It was yet another classic by Darin Morgan. The send up of the Trump era with it's alternative facts and customized reality was perfect. Loved "Dr. They". That Reggie really was crazy in the end hardly mattered, the episode got it's point across.

Yeah, Skinner's "where are they taking Reggie" was great. The last scene with Scully refusing to eat the cherry Jell-O because she wanted to just keep the childhood memory would have made a great final ending of the series this season.

What I also found interesting is I remember the early seasons when Mulder would sometimes talk to a Reggie on the phone for information on this and that. Then they stopped having him do this which makes me wonder if Reggie was really part of the X-Files in the past, abit in a very small way and since he is now crazy he only is imagining having a bigger role during the past cases or maybe the alternate universe thing is true and the Mulder and Scully we now are watching is a different Mulder and Scully and this new version never had Mulder make those old calls.
