Spoilers The X-Files: Season 11

It has been really confusing this season.
How together were they by the end of the original run?

I thought they were both living at his house. It seemed that way earlier in the season in episode 2. Yeah figured out early on it was all because of the tip. Said the same thing too while watching it, X-Files does Black Mirror

Well, this wasn't as funny as the Reggie episode, but it was pretty good. It reminded me of Englehart's "Construct" storyline in JLA back in the 70s-- and parts of it, like the password reset issues or the stuck credit card, were all too real. And that moment when Mulder caught sight of the swarm of mini drones was pretty scary.

Overall, it was a nice little satire on the dehumanization of a plugged in-- or I guess I should say wireless-- society, although I'm sure any kids in the audience were rolling their eyes-- or posting their rolleye emojis-- at the elderly herp derps. Sometimes there's no going back. But it was a nice moment when they put down their phones to hold hands.

The only thing that I found a little dissatisfying about the episode was that they just let it go. If there is an artificial intelligence in the cloud that can organize a coordinated assault like that over a mere tip, then Mulder and Scully are not the only victims, and that oversensitive AI will have more serious grievances than a gratuity before long.

Yeah, up until this week I thought they were living together too.
I watched last week's episode this morning, and it was good. I liked getting to learn a bit more about Skinner history, and it gave us some nice insight into why he's gotten himself with involved with Mulder & Scully and the X-Files.

I still don't get the M/S relationship, they hang out together watching movies like either good friends or a couple or friendly exes, then they have dinner dates with different rides home and Mulder has never been to Scully's house? This work/friendship/love/we-have-a-kid-together(or-not) is the weirdest thing that ever happned on this show.
I know. It's just getting old now. Pick a lane guys. Any laughing aside, seriously, choose one.

For what it's worth, I'm sticking with any episode but MS III, Plus One and this one for M and S's relationship. At least those ones (by Glen, Darin and James)... seemed to have a more level view of M and S than the others.

Heck I just viewed most of the ep as a AU. But yet the shorter wig still goes onto the other episodes. :guffaw:

I still view it that way. ;) Keeps me sane.

Maybe Mulder and Scully are just dating and sometimes Scully stays over at his place. You know this kind of reminds me of something I kind of miss and that is Mulder's old apartment. It would be neat if we could see it just once before the show is cancelled again. I'm curious but is Mulder's place the same place as he was living in during the last movie?

As for the episode I really loved it though it did feel unrealistic a little bit at them not talking at the beginning and I also wonder why they don't have their own cars. I wonder if this and Langley AI will somehow show up again before the series comes to a end and if their is any connection between those two episodes.

That's a good idea. They could assign virtual Langley as a guardian against (or replacement for) the hive-mind AI.

Episode 8.

Good Jesus. Those dancing Teletubby things are the scariest things I've ever seen. In the reality of the X-Files universe people actually let their kids watch that??

Nice episode though. Wasn't amazing or anything but really had a classic X-Files s2-4 vibe to it (small town, bizarre murder, woods, sheriff, etc)

So are the Telenightmares and Mr.Chuckleteeth real shows in the X-verse (yeah I'm calling it that, deal!) or are they straight from hell and the result from opening that door? That would make more sense. ;) And people thought Home was fucked up...
Definitely an old school episode, not all that great but serviceable.

My thoughts on it:

Holy cow. I think Mulder's going to ask to marry her! It sounds like a conversation leading in that direction.

I thought... Hasn't Roger Cross been on The X-Files yet? Then I looked at the IMDb and it says that he's been on the show five times, each time playing a different character.

A pretty heavy episode. It didn't look like the kind of story that could have an X-Files twist, but it did and it worked out pretty well.

Wow, that was brutal. Two murdered kids would have been depressing enough, but we also get a bunch of dead adults (or overgrown adolescents), killed because of infidelity, and a mob attack, followed by cop execution, of an innocent man. Not much to lift the spirits there. I think Mister Chuckleteeth was Mister Robot's weirder cousin.

One odd thing was that Scully seemed much too skeptical after all that she's seen over the years. I'm not terribly familiar with X-Files pre revival, but I thought her worldview had evolved more than that.

I think she is more open but she will always look for the more scientific answer before everything and when you think about it the evidence of witchcraft is actually kind of not all their that much in the episode. The book not being destroyed was the most magical thing to happen and everything else she saw could be written up as people doing bad behavior. I don't even think Mulder show the creepy kid stuff did he? I think he saw the wolf and that was it.

I have some major issues with this season. Mulder and Skully know that the cigarette smoking man has some crazy plan to fight global warming by making everyone die of colds but they are acting like this is season 2. Looking into murders in the backwoods, fighting sushi AIs, etc. There is no urgency whatsoever. There are probably 2 episodes left EVER in this classic show, and next week is another monster of the week. I understand that nostalgia is the selling point of this season but... nostalgia is literally all we're getting out of it. It's pretty certain at this point that the CSM storyline will not wrap up this season, and we'll be left with ANOTHER cliffhanger, this time with no resolution at all since GA is done. Sad.

Wow, that an effectively disturbing episode and not just because of the extra creepy toddler show (seriously, what parent in their right mind would let their kids watch that thing, let alone carry around a creepy doll?). Some nice points about hysteria with echoes of the witch trials but unfortunately not much more than that.

I loved the eerie remix of the show's theme during the close credits. I wonder if there's a longer version available.
