The Walking Dead Season 6 Discussion

Ah, right. I completely forgot about that sequence at the end of the CDC story. I even forgot about Carol's husband, but that came back to me on its own. Season One was so long ago....

Here's the first four minutes of this Sunday's return from the mid-season hiatus:

I've been hearing about Negan for so long now, I'm already bored of him. I really can't face another Governor style big-bad arc that drags on. With that in mind, I hope they do something very different with him or make sure his involvement is, at the very least, brief and succinct.

^From what has been reported on-line, it looks like he'll be playing a big part in all of Season 7 (and potentially beyond).

Pretty much the same amount of time of The Governor's run on the series (all of S3, first half of S4), so to change things up, the producers mught stretch Negan out for another 4 or 5 episodes, but he will go bye-bye, too. The issue is if he's going to be a fully realized character, or just dragging out sadism for the shock of it all.

With Negan's arrival, will we see someone die right off the bat?

For me, the hardest part is waiting for Negan's arrival. Since the Governor's death and the crew leaving Terminus, the main cast's actions are guided by their own stupidity, so it will be nice to have someone back that can motivate them (and, hopefully, make the show interesting).

Great way to return after hiatus! Excellent & intense episode. Reminded me why I love this show so much.
The close following of the comic may have taken some of the shock & awe out of some of the scenes a little bit, but there were enough differences to keep me on the edge of my seat several times.
Gabriel got some character redemption & several other characters, most notably Eugene, stood up & did the right thing.
Morgan still has a long way to go, in my eyes, for redemption though.

Daryl: You just know that sooner or later, he has to pay for such a galaxy-shaking act of badassery. That was right up there with Carol's attack on Terminus.

Carl: Terrible. I did not think the series would go there, but then again, before S6 premiered, most of the crew and cast hinted this would be especially brutal.

Michonne: ever the hero, not even hesitating dealing with that asshole Ron. That was a great character moment for her. That, and kissing Carl. She's so loyal to the Grimes family.

Rick: When tragedy strikes, he turns into Rick the Barbarian, as in season three's "Say the Word" after learning of Lori's death. Rick admits he was wrong about the Alexandria residents. Great moment with his pleading/explaining his world view to Carl.

Jesse: Well...that was quick. Now the Rick/Michonne shippers can breathe a sigh of relief...for now.

Gabriel and Judith: He's right in his belief that God has given them the ability to save Alexandria, and hitting the streets to fight. Wonderful Gabriel stuff.

Judith was not the cheap danger--she's just safe.

Glenn & his teenaged sidekick Enid:
They work well together.

Tara: completely unbelievable desperation in wanting to plow through a herd to rescue Denise. She hardly knows her, but this series has tried to push that relationship, so nonsensical behavior wrecked Tara as a character.

Denise: Slowly finding her strength with Wolf-boy. Not bad.

Carol: I expect the Carol haters to say she should not have shot Wolf-boy because he was changing as a person, but there's no way to know that.

The battle
: it was great to see everyone standing together, back to back, doing what needs to be done.

Right about Gabriel. I don't want him dead anymore, and everybody else I wanted dead is dead. Win all around!

And way to introduce Negan. KABOOM! (snicker!)

In all the action at the back end of the episode, I nearly forgot about that opening scene. Daryl comes through twice in a big way. Nice bookend scenes for his character there.
It's tough to write about this stuff while worrying about spoilers for those that haven't seen it yet. I'm doing the best I can though.

Just finished watching it, and I'll need time to process. But my initial reaction is in a show where Glenn can survive what happened to him last year, I guess Carl surviving seems to follow the internal logic of the show. By that I mean bat shit crazy, of course.

I think Greg Nicotero said on TD that the idea was that the bullet went into the eye but ricocheted off the skull and came out again. If true that might be survivable.

Greg Nicotero addressed the eye wound on Talking Dead. The bullet grazed the eye socket and ricocheted away from Carl and sent bone chips into the eye.

Anyboyd think it was a bit jarring that it goes from daylight in one scene to pitch black night out and Rick's little band hadn't made it outside the fence by then?
