The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Hum, in a modern TZ film, you couldn't get banished to the cornfield, since it's been cut down for stupid ethinol additives. You'd get banished to the kale farm, which is far far worse.

They keep trying to bring back "The Twilight Zone" but none of the attempts have ever surprised the 80's "Twilight Zone" tv show, which wasn't as good as the original of course but still decent. I did like the old movie though despite all the sad things connected to it.

That last Twilight Zone revival had a couple of standout episodes in 'Meet in the Middle' and 'Try, Try' and a whole bunch of mediocre to awful episodes.

Mike Flanagan reveals that his THE DARK TOWER series cannot be a strict adaptation due to a lot of right issues, as many characters who appear throughout the Stephen King novel series are owned by different studios.

Is this a reboot, remake or whatever? The previous season was a second adaptation of the Scott Turow novel but this appears to be the first adaptation of not just a different book, but one by a different writer. Shame they didn’t opt to do adaptations of different books in the same continuity by Scott Turow instead, but Brosnahan is very watchable (and will hopefully be a bit of a draw after Superman.

New show, they just want to continue the popular name, make it an anthology series. Presumed Innocent still a generic enough title to do that.

Making a second season of Dirty John made no sense when the season 2 case had nothing to do with Dirty John. It would've been like Netflix making Dahmer: Ted Bundy. Or HBO making Chernobyl: Papua New Guinea Landslide.

Ballard, if Cold Case were set in the Bosch universe.

Mel Brooks I assume will play Yogurt and maybe Screw. I would think. Michael Winslow can return and do more voice sound effects as well.

It’s odd timing for Spaceballs 2, even overlooking the great man’s age (I hope he has many, many more years ahead of him); I thought he might have got one greenlit to cash in on the Star Wars prequels or sequels. But better late than never.

It does make sense in one regard. "Spaceballs" came out long after the first SW movies were out. For intense and purposes SW is dead right now as well. I figure he felt enough time has passed from the Sequel Trilogy to do another one. Have doubts as to how aware he and the others are about the cartoons and tv shows that have been made. Only thing I know for sure they will do something involving a joke about Baby Yoda. Might be kind of dated but also Jar Jar.

There's a live action remake of How To Train Your Dragon coming out sometime soon. I watched the trailer (linked above) and it seems pretty good, but I just don't see the point in remaking something if you're just going to take the animation and reproduce it frame by frame. I was a big fan of the original animated movies, so I'll probably go see the live action in cinemas, but still, it seems unnecessary.
