I talked about this elsewhere, but my core issue with sequelizing Mel Brooks movies is the originals only have just enough plot to be able to connect up all the jokes, which is really the reason we all remember them so well. There’s not enough plot to warrant a continuation of the story, and if you’re not writing the comedy in the key of Mel Brooks, it’s not gonna land. These sequels are missing the point of the originals entirely.It's official, Josh Gadd is writing Spaceballs 2, to air/stream on Amazon Prime/MGM.
