The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

That's what I've been saying for the past two pages.

That's cause AI always knows best! ;)

I feel like Jim Carrey's an odd choice for this one. I feel like Wiliam H. Macy has a much better likeness to George. And they should absolutely cast Danny Devito as Mr Spacely.
They all seem a bit long in the tooth to play the characters. But hey, Hollywood.

This isn't related to the topic, but I still have a question: In a time when Hollywood actors are chosen based on their Instagram followers, I'm curious how someone like Rachel Zegler, who only has 2.5 million Instagram subscribers and every movie she stars in flops at the box office, continues to land major roles. The same goes for Ariana Greenblatt and Colman Domingo.
What????

There are statements from Ethan Hawke and the girl, including that actors in Hollywood are chosen based on their Instagram follower count. I also asked a question, including why actors like Rachel Zegler, who don't have 30-40 million followers and whose films flop at the box office, continue to star in films. And I received answers.

The more I hear about Heat 2 from Michael Mann's mouth, the more I'm convinced the studio is just going to be setting all that money on fire.

Even if this somehow turns out to be a good movie, Heat wasn't some billion dollar blockbuster, even if it is a modern classic. The amount of money they're spending is insane.

And even that had the draw of the first time DeNiro and Pacino shared a scene together, as well as Mann coming off the hit that was Last of the Mohicans. Heat 2 is unlikely to iqgr such a hook.

Who's "the girl"????
I'd like see something more that Ethan Hawke said. Sounds like a flip comment on the state of Hollywood, rather than fact.
Well, the fact that Zegler gets work in spite of her lack of followers might prove that wrong. I've no idea why she get's work after her films bomb. Perhaps because they don't see her as the reason they bombed

Oh there’s a very good reason she keeps getting work in Hollywood.

If I were to elucidate on that, I’d probably get in trouble, so I’m going to shut up now.

But, rest assured, there is a very good reason.

And the people hiring her not thinking she’s the reason that their films do horribly… is a part of the bigger reason.

Sophie Turner also confirmed this: when she auditioned for the X-MEN movies, they chose Sophie Turner because she had a high number of Instagram followers, even though the other person was someone who did a better job.

"That" "time" probably has relatives in Hollywood. Or maybe there's a producer behind "she" who has no relatives or isn't sleeping with her, and who paved the way for "her." Anyway, this needs to be dropped before anyone gets into trouble.

She was in one the most popular TV shows in recent history. I have a feeling that was a major factor in her getting the job. Her Instagram numbers probably have something to do with GOT. No idea who that other person might be, but I doubt she had that in her resume, no matter how good her audition might have been. Hollywood is always looking to make bank on the popular thing of the moment. It's why singers, models, TV stars and now social media darlings get movie deals

Yeah, at the time that casting went down the industry was feverishly putting people from GOT in everything. I tend to doubt it had much to do with Instagram.

Eh, I've seen her in a few things. She's not untalented and I can see why she gets work. Even if she has opinions that are unpopular in some quarters.
