The truth is in here: watchin' The X-Files (NO SPOILERS)

The episode where Mulder finds some answers regarding his sister is one of the most touching and saddest moments I've watched. The music is simply dazzling and it kills me watching it.
I just rewatched that one earlier this week. It practically had me bawling.

Okay, I'm caught up with the thread. I have to admit, I'm watching them illegally online, but at this point it's good enough that I'm definitely going to get them when I come into some money (In about a month, once school ends). Anyway, here are my thoughts so far.

It certainly hit the ground running, in a way that I haven't seen a series start since Heroes and 24. Anyway, every episode has been good and while some maybe better than others, the general overview has been good. Like Deep Space Nine, even some of the weaker episodes have some great character moments between Mulder and Scully. I'm thinking of The Jersey Devil. That was easily the weakest episode so far, but it was sold through some nice character stuff between Mulder and Scully, especially at the end, when she chose to go to the Smithsonian with Mulder rather than on the date.

I also really like the feeling that something bigger is behind everything, even in smaller episodes. Like Deep Throat, I'm sure that guy has more to do with things than just this episode, same with the guy who filed that communication device at the pentagon. Also, a couple times Mulder has been on the phone with people who are never revealed and at the end of Squeeze, there was that man who was hiding behind the door. And from what I hear about how the series is set up, I'm sure they will come back to play some role.

I'm really into the characters at this point, which I'm sure isn't that big of a deal as there are only two of them. However, they are both well acted and well written so that I really believe that Dana Scully and Fox Mulder are real people. I'm constantly on the edge of my seat, not just because the show is intense, but because I care about the characters only 5 episodes in.

I'm looking forward to going on.

Oh! My one complaint so far is that every episode, we really haven't had answers for anything and paranormal activity has yet to be definitively proven. I'm sure it will be at some point though.

It was pretty much a big "meh" for me. But I was pretty "meh" about the whole series by this point.

I seem to be in the minority, however... :)

The fact that I had to go all the way to Page 5 to find this thread again means you're clearly not watching the show fast enough, Canadave.

I just watched the "Duane Barry"/"Ascension" two-parter at the beginning of Season 2, and I forgot how awesome it was. I'm not gonna spoil anything, but I'm so excited to keep re-watching this show.
