I like it! It has the feel of what we see later in the movies, but has some echoes of the angled chambers we'd see in TOS, along with those intermix chambers that were in front of it (the 2 round chambers with the rounded tops).

The intro is just a gorgeous segment! But isn't that the dome at the bottom of the primary hull lighting up? The deflector dish is gold and doesn't look to be lit.... just because ...

... a shot of the deflector dish warming up ... (another copycat shot from TMP)

Heh ... you're probably right. I'm so excited, I'm seeing things that aren't there. The intro is just a gorgeous segment! But isn't that the dome at the bottom of the primary hull lighting up? The deflector dish is gold and doesn't look to be lit.
This intro alone has really gotten me excited for this series, moreso than a lot of the news and clips ramping up to this!Heh ... you're probably right. I'm so excited, I'm seeing things that aren't there.![]()
Heh ... it's amazing that we 'Shippers' may actually get a slew of nicely visible ship-shots in this new series that we can enjoyably dissect for the foreseeable future.
The guys at TREKYARDS are probably salivating all over their keyboards at this point.

FWIW, the original FJ blueprints show the three forward-facing lights as "Search Sensors and Deflectors". I get the impression that they were never supposed to be windows from the beginning.
Like it...And in 7 years or so, they'll completely enclose it and sink it into the floor a bit.

Sure, in a purely physical sense, but perceptively it can be a vast space. They also use replicator technology to create matter as well as merely projecting an image of an object.
So the technology exists to create something subjectively akin to "TARDIS tech" in TNG's 24th century. Who knows what is possible by Discovery's 32nd century?
In the very first episode of Doctor Who, the Doctor says it's like television, you can fit an entire universe in a small room. It's nonsense of course, but hints that the seeming impossibility of the TARDIS is merely a matter of perception.
If you've got an infinite energy source, you could use replicators, transporters and programmable matter to create anything within a small space, projecting whatever you like to fool human perception.
I would love a Saladin class style ship. The angle is weird though.
Probably won't and people will keep speculatingYeah, I think the positioning of the nacelle we can see is too off kilter compared to the saucer for there to be only the one nacelle.
Hopefully we see this ship in episode 1 so we'll know for sure.

But compared to the angle of saucer, you should be able to see the second nacelle if there was one.for there to be only the one nacelle.
The way these folks are able to capture the essence of the TOS sets and then fully realize what Bachelin, Guzman, and Jefferies had in mind is breathtaking. That is a gorgeous shot.
