Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

I've never noticed those red lights above the shuttered bridge window. I don't think we've seen those in any other episodes. Wonder what their purpose is suppose to be?
Maybe a special bank of navigational deflectors possibly? The Enterprise was just barreling through an asteroid field rather than use her deflector dish to push stuff out of her way.

You can see a green one on the saucer and starboard nacelle in that picture. The red port ones are missing (or just blinked in the screencap)

I don't think they're nav lights, maybe just warning light idk.

Also look at the front of the bridge dome, there's no window, there seems to be a hull panel of the same shape in the spot where it should be.

Then look at the Chicago model posted above.

There is panel laying in the opening that looks like it could flip up and close the hole.

Or I'm just over thinking this and this is a low detail model with the bridge interior removed that wasn't meant to be seen that close.

On no, there is definitely a shutter or panel that comes up and protects the bridge window. You can see it in multiple screen shots, seemingly when the ship is in a dangerous situation. I kinda dig it. I like it alot more then the giant window/panel that went solid/transparent from Discovery, season 2.

The big window replaces a larger hexagonal area on STD that was opaque or transparent depending on the shot.

The red/green lights are just callbacks to present day nav lights on ships and planes - "hey, is that thing coming or going?" There's a set on the nacelles as well.

I treated the current version of the big window as an area of variable transparency. If there's a physical shield there I guess that would make sense.

There's a ship in Picard Season 2 was also designed to have shudder or something to protect the bridge during combat. We never saw it in use, but it was designed by the ship team.

You have any other examples?

Then we have the Farragut with its window wide open in the midst of the battle with the Bird of Prey.

Given the lack of hull markings (despite this very long, very prominent shot), it looks pretty likely that the Farragut model didn't implement all the special features and rigging of the Enterprise model. Or probably any, if you don't count the nacelle caps.

Yeah, I just noticed the lack of any livery when @HotRod posted the screencap, oops...

Does that look like the the Farragut's bridge is not centered under the dome but moved forward to the window?
Yep, just as was done with the Kelvinverse ship. Wish they'd done that with this Enterprise. You could launch a BSG Viper through the tunnel in front. And from the bridge window you see none of it, nor even the saucer rim below (which IMHO just looked super cool in the Kelvin movies and Discovery season 2)

Still needs a bridge cap. Wish one of you CG geniuses would add one to see what it looks like
Think it would be an aesthetic improvement
