Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

Mmm... meaty.

Okay serious thing I dislike about the SNW Enterprise: The bussard collectors. They've copypasted NX-01's, which have an uninteresting red mist swirling about inside. Why do that when those crisp spinning blades on the original TOS model, painstakingly recreated (in blue) in the Kelvinverse ship look so amazingly cool?

The Discovery Enterprise has spinning blades in it's nacelles...

Nope, I don't want it to look like it did in TOS anymore. I hope the retcon is permanent. In fact, I wouldn't mind them retconning the Refit. Keep the Disco/SNW main hull and secondary hulls basically the same but add the new bridge and impulse engine. Lose the deflector dish and extend the secondary hull forward for the new deflector, perhaps beef up the shuttlebay area and add the Photon Torpedo tubes to the interconnecting dorsal and fit new warp engines on the existing pylons. Keep the slots in the pylons if you like. Then change the font and she's good to go.

A new Miranda along the same lines would be nice too. However I doubt it'll happen as the Refit still looks good. The TOS Connie has always looked dated to me and the Disco version has quickly become my favorite Starfleet ship design. Unlike the awful job they made of the various JJprise designs from the new movies all of which were terrible.

Funnily enough the rest of the fleet from the 2009 movie, the Kelvin, Mayflower etc looked great, much better than all the ships from Disco apart from the Enterprise. If we could have the Disco/SNW Connie and the Kelvin universe ships (not the Vengeance though!) for the rest of the fleet (suitably sized down) it would be a really good looking TOS Starfleet IMHO

That's pretty! And I agree with Stuart Wilson that we should see some Kelvin-era contemporary ships in the background of this series (a missed opportunity in Discovery, IMO), as they would have all been built prior to the timeline split.

Huh, I was sure it was just generic swirls of plasma. Apologies. Still not as well done as the TOS ship version, though. I recall the effort the TOS-R people went through (or was it one of the fan films?) to recreate it accurately in CG

Which version of TOS nacelle Cap animation?

I ask because in the original effects, they showed the 1701 nacelle caps as both 'spining' and in a few other third seson shots with 'pulses/flashes' of energy inside (similar 'flashes' to those used for the Zetarians in TOS S3 - "The Lights Of Zetar").

In TOS Remastered all the nacelle caps shots were of the 'spinning' caps.
