Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

The Archer type definitely has a Nacelle that's pretty similar to the Enterprise, they just put the grills on the bottom.

I do love the spike on the bussard. If we ever get a flashback to the earliest days of the Enterprise, I'd love to see them put the spikes on the nacelles to honour the look of the original model.

Looks like the rim of the saucer is one very high deck. Would love to stand at one of those narrow but tall window slits around the perimeter and gaze out into the stars.

That’s one of the Strange New Worlds ships that Eaglemoss Master Replicas Fanhome will release as model, correct?

You know what, in retrospect, maybe elaborating on where I learn unreleased information about upcoming productions is a bad idea.

Yes, it is. It's one of the few ships I actually want from them. I've always had a soft spot for single nacelle ships. Plus, I think Jonathan Archer would appreciate a ship being named after him being a plucky little scout ship.
Definitely! Starfleet ships were usually the ones I would try to get as a model. And this one looks very interesting and kind of retro. I’m a sucker for ships that in-universe are meant to be small. For some reason that makes them more real, because their layout and size is easier to grasp. Those red glowing details on the front of the nacelle strut look very cool in this rendering. I wonder what they are supposed to be.

Brian Tatosky had an impromptu VFX AMA on Mastodon about a month ago, and alluded to it when I mentioned that I thought the fandom backlash was mostly because we were never seeing the different 23rd century Starfleet styles next to each other in the same show, so they felt more discordant than the equally-diverse 24th century designs that were constantly side-by-side.

Ok… No offense, but I’m not sure how all of that translates to ‘we’re putting round nacelles on the DSC ships.’ Unless I’m just misunderstanding you.

Yeah, I feel the same about small ships. It's why I always loved the NX-01 and other 22nd century ships. As to what those glowing bits are on the nacelle strut, I don't know. But I'd like to think the little nub below is a single phaser.

The top right one with a taller curve and the pylons pulled in a bit so they don't intersect the rim, that's what we need. A shorter pod at the top as well, though I like the idea of it being under the curve.

I kinda dig the lower right. Mostly because the extension added to the back of the saucer gives it a more unique look and makes it look like something other than just a Constitution saucer with Nacelles. I also kinda like the split pylons and roll bar from the top left. Merge those two designs and it'd be perfect.

Yeah why didn’t they keep the rollbar? Too “on the nose” with the Reliant? Why not make this the official TOS version of that class?

I suppose it's possible. Technically, with the Reliant's rollbar containing 4 torpedo launchers and the higher powered multi-arc "megaphasers", she was definitely a lot more battle-ready than the Enterprise ever was.

We don't really know a thing about how the Reliant matched up to the Enterprise in terms of firepower, except that the ship appears to have more places to shoot stuff out of. Personally I always assumed that the Enterprise was the most powerful ship Starfleet had until the Excelsior launched.
