Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

(IE They don't want to risk the anger of fans of the Gene Roddenberry Starfleet Two Warp Nacelles Rule instituted after he found out Franz Joseph wanted a royalty fee to use is designs from the original Star Trek technical manual in Star Trek The Motion Picture.)

I don't think anybody working on any present Star Trek show, movie, video game, or any other production gives a crap about Roddenberry's rule.

I have a feeling that it wasn't actually Farragut Class, and Paramount just didn't have a name for it yet, so Cryptic had to come up with a name.
Most likely. When there’s an unnamed class represented on screen by only one named starship, and if that name isn’t already taken, STO tends to name the class after that one ship.
For instance - USS Farragut - Farragut class. VSS Sh’vhal - Sh’vhal class. VSS D’Kyr - D’Kyr class.

Star Trek: Trexels did the same with the USS Curry/Curry class, and Eaglemoss with the USS Yeager (NCC-65674)/Yeager class.

Apart from the “coincidence” of the heroes always running into the prototype ship of a class, I appreciate it - because it makes the class name easier to remember.

The Farragut class is a nice kit bash compared to some other's we've seen. Though the fact that it's just a Connie saucer makes me wonder about how small the warp core must be and how small of a crew compliment is must have.

The ship has the Connie secondary hull, it's just embedded into the saucer, so the warp core may be as big, just less space in the saucer for everything else that would be in a Connie saucer.

The nacelles are more reinforced at the front compared to the Connie.

I enjoy looking at it too but, despite its relative simplicity, it's probably one of the most unconventional designs ever made, even above and beyond all the DSC ships. Those nacelle pylons are just... OUT there...

I actually like the pylons though the DSC designs still win out for me in a similar configuration.

My brain wants the pylons to be straight, but there's really no reason for that (I guess it gives it a bit of a Kelvinverse vibe, too).
