Yeah. Arguably, two of the greatest strengths of the show IMO was that it could balance some really fun action/adventure sequences with some equally powerful character moments.
The weird thing about Forever in a Day is that Daniel's friend who is recruited into the SGC to replace him is later seen to be employed at the SGC, despite the fact that his recruitment in this episode would never have actually have happened.
Past and Present
I really liked this episode. The team goes to a planet that has suffered a "vorlix" which caused amnisia and the main doctor turns out to be Lannaya from "Prisoners", the destroyer of worlds. It asks the question that kind of reminds me of DS9's Dax, does a past life impact who you are today. It was a good take on that morality theme, and while it's done before, I think something like that is always pretty interesting. Also, I liked seeing another sequel to a past episode, and the SG-1 team dealing with the consequences of what they did at the end of Prisoners. I was amused by the scenes with Daniel and Lannaya, especially on the heels of Sha're's death in the previous episode, but overall, it was pretty good.
You know last night I was talking about Jack and how it seems like he's written by Joss Whedon. I think I might have a comparison on who he reminds me of and it does come from a Joss Whedon series. Jack reminds me of a cleaner, less offensive version of Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Jolinar's Memories & The Devil You Know
These two episodes felt like universe expanding episodes. We start with a trip down Samantha's memories and understanding how Jolinar escaped and Martoof discovering Jolinar's secret, and it ended with two bitter Gao'uld's fighting for balance of power in the Galaxy. That was great, especially the revelation that Apophis is alive and back in the game. That reveal at the end of the first episode and then the shot at the end of the second was awesome. Apophis is as scary as ever.
The rest of the episodes were great. We learn more about Samantha's personal past, I actually liked the idea of using memories as torture, and everything with Teal'c and the Tok'ra on the ship. Heck, the space scenes reminded me of the Season 1 finale and Season 2 premiere, and thats why I feel like these episodes are universe expanding. I will say if there was one criticism, they had set Sokar up to be this devil like figure and when they finally reveal him, it feels like a let down.

Good episode, nice use of the Alien Invasion motif. I especially liked this quote from Major Carter:
"Maybourne, you are an idiot every day of the week. Why couldn't you have just taken one day off?"

Next episode is Pretense. One of of my favorite S3 episodes. We see the return of some favorite S1 characters. It is Stargate's version of TNG's Measure of a Man. Well done with some great character moments, and explores some important philosophical questions regarding the nature of a being a Goauld host.
Yeah, I don't see it. Xander always reminded me of a poor man's version of Chandler from Friends. O'Neill is nothing like either character, IMO.
I guess I'm just looking at the things he says rather than the way he acts. Also, I barely saw Friends so I really don't remember how Chandler was and when I did watch the show my favorite character was always Phoebe.
Sokar had so much potential. One of the few times I actually lament missed potential in a show.

The feather thing actually comes from real world Ancient Egyption mythology, in their stories when a person died Anubis would weigh their heart against a feather, and it if was lighter they would got to the land of the dead. I can't remember what happened to you if it weighed more.

Pretense
That was like Measure of a Man, with the arguments about personality and what constitutes personality. I also loved seeing the Tallon and the Nox back, as this was like a return of the first season more interesting races. The arguments were interesting too, how Skaara is pretty much a slave to Klorel's personality and even the counter arguments about the Goa'uld being more superior than Humans, like how Humans feel they are more superior than animals also did make sense.
One other thing I liked about this episode was another space battle so soon after the two parter. That scene at the beginning where the Motherships were getting destroyed was really cool, and the scenes with the Gliders on the planet were really cool. Loved the ace card that Teal'c and Lya pulled too.
I hope Skarra comes back and might have a role in Daniel's story about his kid (Heroisis).

In a way I was disappointed that the Triad, from the Go'auld perspective, was largely a stalling tactic. It would have been hard to believe they were arguing in good faith to begin with, given they're EVIL, but that the Triad was just a diversion for them just made it harder.
I might have appreciated a more Vidiian approach to the Go'auld situation, where a subset of them didn't exactly want to be parasitical but couldn't conceive of a better way to exist. Though that would necessitate changes to the Tok'ra as well I suppose.

But isn't the Tok'ra that subset? Yes the Goa'uld are evil, but the Tok'ra believe in asking the hosts if they want to join because anything else they would be no different then the evil Goa'ulds. It just seemed to be the whole Triad thing was flawed to begin with, but at least we got some good arguments in the case. I wonder how different it could have been if instead of having the Goa'ulds, you invited the Tok'ra (Maybe just as a witness) to the proceedings. You might not have the space battle, but the arguments on the Goa'uld side might have been more meaningful.
One aspect of Triad that I find a bit peculiar, is how they give one vote to each party and one vote to a neutral party. Wouldn't each party automatically vote for their side, leaving the third neutral party always the tie breaker? In that case, the neutral party is deciding the entire case so you are essentially putting the entire case in the hands of just one neutral party. I don't see the point in giving each party a vote that will just cancel each other out. Although perhaps there could be some exceptions where one side changes their mind, a bit like how sometimes one party settles in real life court cases.
I found that interesting too, which is probably why having friends like The Nox is a very good thing. I wonder how they dealt with cases before they had met the Nox, though.
I would assume for triads that involve internal Tollan matters, they might find a Tollan who is neutral to the specific issue. So for example, if there was a triad involving theft, they could find a Tollan from another city that has no connections to the accused or the object that was stolen. Or maybe the Tollan asked a member from another civilization?
Urgo
This episode was dumb, but it was better than Demons. Urgo was annoying as hell, but I thought the best part was Teal'c downing a half gallon of hot coffee at the beginning. Before Urgo showed up, there were some funny moments. I did know Togar was going to bring Urgo to him though, but the writers wanted to make this a comedy episode that I guess there was no wrong to see any positive dramatic development with Togar at the end. This was stupid comedy.
Oh, and they incorporated something from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. I don't need this cast singing Row Row Row Your Boat.
