Lost Boys/The Hive (SG: A)
You know, I think I liked Atlantis's Midseason finale/premiere more than I liked SG-1s. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of stuff that happened in TFH, but these two episodes revealed so much about Ford, the Wraith, the Enzyme and it's affects, and it ended with a hell of a space battle. The whole drug ford thing has really done wonders with the character. He was not really used well in Season 1, but allowing him to be recurring has made him much more interesting. We also got a lot of fun parts, like Rodney being on the drug trying to tell Weir everything that's happened, Ronon and Teyla (They really are matching those two up a lot) in hand to hand as they are on the drug, and Sheppard manipulating the Queen. By the way, it seems like Wraith Females are the main interrogators. That's interesting.
I think what I liked about both these episodes was spending time actually flying the Wraith Dart and then on the Hive ship as the Culling is beginning. We basically got to see it from the other side, and the number of Darts that come out of the hive is insane. Then we got Sheppard forcing the two hive ships to fire on each other and then the revelation that the Wraith's might now be going against each other for territory, that changes things up a bit, something any midseason premiere should do.
Both series have had some really great seasons so far, but I think I have to go with Atlantis over SG-1 at the midway point. There is just a certain fun/charm to this series that I'm enjoying. Looking forward to seeing how both end though.
