The sheer emotion of that trailer

If TREK is going to die, if this movie is the last thing the franchise ever produces then shes going to die a death worthy for a king...standing tall and not fading out of existence with a wimper :)

Honorable. :techman:

The trailer music is done by Two Steps From Hell. It's a modified version of the piece "Freedom Fighters" off their album Legend.

Thanks for that, I've been wondering about the music ever since Thursday night when I first saw it. There was some speculation in another thread that it was lifted from the score of Batman Begins, but no real confirmation.

Pity this isn't part of the real score from the film, but it sure as hell made this trailer rock.

If they wanted it to go out with a whimper, they could get Janeway and company to replace the antimatter pulse emitter with a subspace transwarp drive to reverse the negative polarity and reset everything back to normal.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - that's how you make a trailer. I have no doubt that even if I thought Trek was shit that trailer would still intrigue me. You can tell that the people making this movie recognize the importance of it and make it look so damn appealing.

I still can't get that fracking song out of my head, and that's a good thing. Well done to JJ and his crew.

Yep. I catch myself humming it. It is a very well made trailer.
I think we're in good hands with this movie.

I guess one could argue that this is actually a significant improvement over the trailers for Nemesis and Insurrection.
Seriously.
This trailer puts ''EVERY'' Trek trailer to shame!( good job j.j.):techman:

Thanks! Too bad it's not Giacchino's score but - imho - it makes this trailer.

I'm in the goosebump, misty-eyed crowd, too, despite my initial ambivalence. It happened, of all things, when the E was flying through the debris field after Kirk's little salute. The thought appeared in my heart (not my head): "They're getting it right. Oh my goodness, they're getting it right..."

Tear. Almost.

First post, btw. Old-timer who's bled TOS since catching "Arena" on a Saturday afternoon in 1974. Kirk sparing the Gorn turned my third grade world upside down ("Wha? Don't the good guys always kill the monster?"). Never been right since.

I'll try to keep my nose clean.
:techman: Welcom to the Trek BBS! I was a cadet not too long ago myself. I hope you enjoy the ride!

"Its in the fracking ship!"

You people got emotional over a trailer? Seriously?

It was a standard action adventure movie trailer. Any good editor can make a movie look awesome no matter what for a trailer. I've seen it done countless times.

Heck even normal people can do some amazing work and make an awful movie look watchable.

For example take this trailer re edit of Mac and Me

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTF8r0stPoA&feature=channel

Those who have seen the original abomination will understand why that was so incredible.

The fact that it took them so long to get a decent trailer out isn't exactly a good sign.

To each his or her own.

Ok then, I'll just add you to the list of people that can suck my balls!

You're way off, hopefully you're more on target when it comes to my scrotum.

My two cents was this felt like any other sci-fi/action trailer with the same generic music.
What could they have changed to alleviate that? What would make it feel unique? I don't understand this criticism, is all... it was full of Star Trek.

I honestly don't know. It's one of those purely reactionary things. Either it's Eureka! or it's not.

For me, it wasn't.

It's weird, I find myself getting more emotional each time I watch it.

It's certainly powerful.

I don't know...The other trailers where very decent too.
And well received if the threads at the time on the BBS are any indication..

Even the super bowl ad was well received and highly ranked when it aired.

To all the nay'sayers (As Alan Shore says)...

Get outta my way before I push you to the floor and go to the toilet on you

 Trek rules this summer.

Garak, I like you and all, but that's way too TNZ for in here.

So warned. Comments to PM.

Invoking Shore for your see-no-evil POV is really insulting to all the good (read: imaginary) lawyers like him on the planet.

Considering the emotionalism of the posters who have been moved (?!) by this trailer, it begs the question, "Do wimps 'wimper'?"
