The rewatch is going well...

One Small Step- I remember all the bru ha-ha about how this started out to be a Chakotay episode and became another Seven episode and all the talk about his sudden interest in paleontology (and Beltran apparently griped about it) Husband thought of it in terms of a 'Seven and Chakotay' episode and there was a bit of a discussion about how we saw her with Janeway and B'Elanna a lot but there wasn't a lot of these two characters together. This is one of my personal favorites despite Seven getting to learn another lesson.

Pathfinder-He had never seen this one. His first reaction..."What are The Next Generation people doing on there?" ;) He really liked it because he's always been a fan of Lt. Barkley. ;)

Paris was the one who was obsessed with the Mars missions. Chakotay didn't strike me as a man with any interests unless they involved saying "akoochimoya."

Lol.

There have been people who have thought this should have been a Paris or Janeway episode.

He was off work yesterday and the weather was so cold to do much else so he ran through the next couple of episodes. He told me flat out that he 'likes Voyager'.

Fair Haven-"This isn't one of those 'a Hologram becomes sentient' episodes is it?" I don't think he was too impressed. I didn't mind Sandrine's or the Resort or Captain Proton (maybe because in all honesty they weren't used that much) but by the time Fair Haven came around I was tired of it. I understand why some of the people who like to play around with remaking Voyager would opt to get rid of it.

Blink of an Eye-'That's the guy from LOST!' He liked it. Thought it interesting. I've always enjoyed it.

Virtuosity-Husband was once a music teacher (and plays with a church band) and really liked the musical selections. Thought it was an interesting way to tell a story of fleeting fame but the idea of him just leaving Seven like that and not to mention Tom in charge of sick bay? Tom has become a better medic over the years but he's no Doctor. Really? To me it seemed a regression for the Doctor but whatever.

He liked Memorial. Thought the whole television/jingle thing was funny. We know people who have suffered from PTDS and the whole scene of Tom yelling at B'Elanna rang true. Overall I liked it but I agree with Chuck over at Sci Fi Debris when it comes to the whole fix the memorial thing. Last time I was at Gettysburg my mind wasn't assaulted by memories of someone marching up the hill during Pickett's Charge.

Tsunkatse-"Did they write an episode just for The Rock or did they write the episode and then decided to try and cast the Rock?" "Does everybody want to be on Star Trek?"

I know what UPN was trying to do at the time but it's a little odd to watch it now and if someone is a new viewer they might have no idea that this was what amounts to a 'crossover' event. It's now just another episode.

Husband and his three brothers were always into Smackdown and Ultimate Fighter and any event where men throw each other around. Once I was talked into going with them to a live WWF match with them. It was...interesting. I am ambivalent about this episode. Chakotay finally got something to do. The Seven parts are ok. We were reminded of the Hirogen again. Not must see but I don't hate it either.

Should have squeezed harder... :D

I rewatched that episode recently as well, and I forgot how little The Rock is actually in it. Seems like a waste of The Rock.

Was that his first acting credit or did scorpion king come out first. Amazing how far he's come in his acting career.

One small step: As a once Chak fan this was out of character. The writer's would never agree with us as we don't get to 'dictate' the flow of the show. Nevermind we pay their way. I was angry at his endangering the group for a probe. They didn't get a say because of his rank if they got to live or die for history. I'm glad it all ended well but I was happy to see him get that jolt. Which btw, did Beltran MEAN for that to be so damn funny?

Fair Haven-"This isn't one of those 'a Hologram becomes sentient' episodes is it?"

AHAHA. Wait for it....Enter: Spirit Folk.

I didn't have the heart to tell him about Spirit Folk. ;) He'll find out soon enough.

I agree about Chakotay.

Spirit Folk. They don't pull the plug on the Holodeck because the crew has 'relationships' with the characters in Fair Haven. Characters that they can redo...and didn't anyone think to do some kind of projection on how the 'open door' policy of keeping a holodeck program running constantly might affect the ship's operations?

Ashes to Ashes. Wish they could have revived Ensign Jetal. Would have made some nice angst/ guilt moments on the part of the Doctor and Harry but of course that would have involved continuity. I skip this one because I just don't care.

Child's Play. Seven Again but at least this time we got Mark Sheppard. Nice continuity. Let's live right beside the front door to the main big bad guy of the Quadrant but we're not moving dammit because this is OUR planet. Ok....maybe if you moved you wouldn't be turning your kids into super weapons.

I love Ashes to Ashes but you're right, having it be Jetal would have been very interesting stuff. Given it some edge.

Is it wrong that I like the Fair heaven episodes?

Live Fast and Prosper-He thought this was fairly amusing. It was...ok.

Muse-This has never been a favorite of mine. Once again B'Elanna gets an episode and once again I wish she had been given something better but at least it's not her going all angsty over being Klingon or her temper or her inability to accept herself or whatever so I will give it that. Kelis annoys me and I've always suspected this episode was a dig at fanfiction and fanfiction writers. I skip it when I'm alone. I don't think husband was all that impressed.

Was Ashes to Ashes the one with Lindsey Ballard? Yeah that was a decent episode but it would have been better with Jetel. I'm doing a slow rewatch of voyager (in season 2 now) and there's a lot of stuff post season four I haven't seen in years.

I love Muse.

Its a gentle, meaningful story. A proper yarn. And maybe a sly in-joke about writing.

But... Said it before and I'll say it again. How the buggery did B'Elanna read the note from Kelis? Those universal translators are some clever kit.

Fury. What the audience feels after they watch this.

Ah...hmm. Husband was confused for most of it. I don't know why they couldn't have left Kes as we last saw her, transformed into a being of light skipping through the Universe...but no.

I like the idea of Kes coming back. I wouldn't mind her coming back angry if we had some kind of reasonable reason instead of her crazy 'memory' problems. If you have ever seen the review of this on Sci-Fi debris any of the reasons he offered would have worked. The energy the Caretaker stored has run out so the Ocampa were destroyed by the Kazon or she 'transformed' in Borg space and the Borg went looking for the Ocampa and assimilated them so Kes is trying to go back in time to fix things. I could have even gone along with the idea someone suggested that she came back for Tom in an attempt to recreate the alternative future where she had some measure of happiness.

Whatever. A good idea that went way off the rails. Good thing we have the String Theory books to fall back on.

Lynx will add his 2 cents very soon. Poor guy XD The episode that shall not be named. It was bizarre! And once again how on earth does Janeway fix all those tattered hallways? give me a break.
