THE ORVILLE Season Two...

They'd literally have to sit in a room to re-negotiate and be present to sign the relevant paper work. That kind of legal mumbo jumbo can't be faxed or otherwise.
Nope. They negotiate, Seth comes into his agent's office, signs, and contract is then delivered to FOX Exec(s) in meeting with Seth's agent and they sign and all is well.

Disney+ or Hulu are definite possibilities if Fox passes on it. Or maybe CBS AA, re-branded as Star Trek:Orville.

Obviously I am kidding on the last one but Disney for sure would consider it for one of their OTT products since it has a loyal and hardcore fan base who would be willing to pay to see it. ENT would have got a 5th season for sure if it had been cancelled during the streaming service era.

I still expect it to get renewed by Fox.

According to TV Line Star has been cancelled, so that leaves 2. I'm getting even less optimistic. :(

Maybe.

It sure looks like the show made it past Black Friday, which is reassuring.

Fox cancelled four shows today, none of which were The Orville. And featured The Orville in a recent promotional picture for advertisers (the picture included none of the canceled shows)

I saw their promotional investors slideshow thing. This is good news, even though I'm surprised they haven't officially announced anything yet. Still, it looks like they survived today, which was a bludgeon of cancellations (And an actress who was mad that her show got renewed which was surprising). My optimism is back on the rise.

Wouldn't crew that have to work on episodes actually be the last to know?

The actors and actresses have to negotiate or just renew their contracts, they'd have to know the show is coming back. As far as I know, a studio doesn't waste time or lawyer money to negotiate for a show that isn't coming back, so the cast would not be the last ones to know..
They don't negotiate the contracts every season. Actors and actresses sign on for several seasons. If they think their show might be cancelled, they can look for other work, they just have to come back if the show gets renewed.

You don't agree to a contractual negotiations in principle mere days before the FOX schedule is announced. We were talking "The Orville", not random shows that don't have a deadline to meet and actors/actresses to secure before they potentially sign on to another series.

But what ever you say. 'cause that's how that works apparently; just toss on a quick useless comment.
If there are not negotiating then why hasn’t any party involved announced it as a renewal? Because they are still negotiating. They might go back and forth all weekend. Like I said before I feel like they are trying to slash the budget or reduce the episode number to get it cheaper.

Ha. I missed that. Who was it?

Constance Wu from Fresh off the Boat. She sent out some tweets mad that her show got renewed and then had to send out another tweet backtracking on the whole thing. Her tweets are in the Cancelation show thread in the TV Forum if you want to see what they were. The first day back might be a little awkward.

They are NOT negotiating. The actors (probably) have a 6 year contract. The production team as well. The network has to decide now if they will renew. MacFarlene's contract might be up or coming up because Orville is included in his production deal(s).

Fox network is probably trying to lower the license fee it pays for the show. And if that's the case then Fox studios/Disney have to decide if they are willing to lose some money in the first run, try to slash the budget to offset that or move it somewhere else.
