The new teaser

Oh, for crying out loud! What's with all the Rory love? They really need to kill him off at the end of this season because he's so dull and useless ...
I don't wanna be in your shoes when Rory takes time out from being awesome and saving the Universe and sees your post ;)

[checks to make sure he's not standing too close to Trubinator ... then steps a little further away just to be sure]

I don't think I've ever said this before about anything, but I really wish Doctor Who would go back to being episodic. I don't care about solving a mystery, while rewriting history. The writers are way too concerned with giving answers to questions that no one asked. I just want an episode where the Doctor travels to some alien planet, meets people he's never seen before and has no connection to, saves the day, and never mentions it again.

I'm enjoying this story line. I think it manages to do both. I wouldn't presume to speak for other about what they want, though.

Its gotten to the point where I like Rory more than Amy. So :p.

And I have to agree with Kelthaz. I'm getting a bit tired of the series long story arcs. Hope they'll do something different next season. Though doubtful, with it being the big anniversary and all.

Bugger. I've been watching Torchwood at the US pace, so I haven't bothered with the BBC showings. Ah well, I'm sure it'll be online soon enough.

OT, but that's precisely why the BBC were a bit silly to show it a week later...

It's written right under the flag - but I only saw it on the TV airing before Crotchwood...

I don't think any smutty alteration of the title is necessary - "Torchwood" sounds like a slang term for an erection as it is.

It probably will - Moffat has indicated as such; http://www.cultbox.co.uk/news/headlines/1472-steven-moffat-doctor-who-will-push-back-towards-the-anthology-model.

The show has tried this sort of thing before; The Key to Time, The Trial of a Time Lord. I like it as an occasional departure, but I wouldn't want it to be like it all the time.

Plus it would certainly make The Moff's life a lot easier. No more brainstorming trying to weave all those seperate plot threads into one coherent arc.

While I think it'll be good to get back to a more episodic run, I can't imagine we'll go back to the days where there was no overall arc linking a series, it'll just revert more to the RTD model with a very loose arc that isn't mentioned all the time and can be quite subtle.

I just used the words RTD and subtle in the same sentence didn't I? I may go for a lie down...

I rather like the idea of a stealth arc. Have a quick, throwaway scene early in the series, that we don't realize means anything until the season finale two-parter.

Yea, I can't imagine there being literally no arc, and completely seperated story episodes. We've had arcs, since at least Pertwee's run, with him trying to fix his TARDIS, the Unit stuff, gaining his Freedom. Then you have the Harry and Sarah Jane Arc, The Key To Time, etc, etc.

Looks like dear old Auntie, has only half learned her lesson from the TW fiasco, whilst she is running Ads for DW now, it's only coming soon. Whilst BBCA has them saying it's 27-08 it'll be back on that channel. Is it too hard to actually say the date on screen Auntie?

Can't imagine it being any other date than the 27th, the only other date it could get way with without another flood of complaints is the 20th. I doubt the Beeb would want yet another programme/schedule to get complaints about in the last couple of months it's had at least a couple TW and F1.

Does. It. Actually. Matter. Though?

in the grand scheme of things no. But at times it seems as if the British networks, esp the terrestial ones are still stuck in the pre-internet age. Where you can learn when a British programme is airing in say America before it's airing in the UK.

but perhaps part of that is down to the differences in the way the US and UK networks run. As for DW it is one of the Beebs most popular shows. If you strip out major sporting events and the soap operas DW will be near the top of ratings so you have one of your most popular shows coming back soon. You would have thought that you would want to start mentioning the date of it's return as soon as possible. Rememer with all the channels we have today you might catch the trailer for it only once or twice. See it's coming back soon and then miss it''s return. With mentioning the date earlier it might stick in poeples mind, or I'll note it in my dairy etc...

people in this country, though, actually buy listings mags. so tehy'll see it a week in advance in there. particularly if RT, TV&Satellite Week or Total TV stick it on the cover.

I live in the UK and don't buy a listings mag, or buy a paper. But like you say it'll probably be plastered over the front covers.

^So why does it matter? We all know when it'll be, and it happens with EVERY popular show, you're only noticing it now because you care about those two shows, but it happens with everything. Channel 4 did it with The Killing and Sirens, ITV do it, BBC do it. It's the way the British channels work.

Channel 4 isn't a good example, they advertise their shows into the ground. I do like Sirens though.

Really though, rule of thumb for the Beeb: if they said something is coming soon, it'll be on in about a fortnight. Always.
