Spoilers The new (massive spoiler) ship!

Voyager is a cool ship don't knock it. Only starship that can land
And the Defiant, and the Nova...

Ah, but we never saw those actually do a landing, and Voy had those cute little feet that popped out.

My headcanon says the Shenzhou could possibly do it due to the nacelle placement

The MSD's of the Defiant and the Prometheus classes also show the same landing gear as the Intrepid's:

That's cool..... I wish the Enterprise could land, Oh hang on the JJprise can
Well, it could be on the ground, or underwater (which was described behind-the-scenes as essentially being an extremely low-altitude hover), but I don't think it could land on it's own without some kind of support structure or scaffolding. On the other hand, it suddenly sprouting legs wouldn't be out of the question, the ship did have a tendency to develop new external features as-needed (looking at you, 80 Age-of-Sail broadside torpedo launchers).

Yeah that was a bit of a surprise.....

Actually in the 2009 movie there is another scene where all the cadets are meeting to go on shuttles the launch bay for those sits under scaffolding that is holding up another ship that looks just like the Enterprise. So there's your landing platform if that's its purpose

Are you thinking about where Kirk drives up on the bike? Pretty sure that was the Enterprise.

No not that scene. Yes that was the Enterprise but later on when he gets rid of his motorbike they are all boarding shuttles and they are all under a lot of scafolding which is holding up a ship, you can see it clearly in the scene .

It was built on the ground, but that doesn't mean it can land. After all, boats are built on land but that doesn't mean they can leave water and roll around on dry land.

We see Galaxy Class parts (presumedly) being built on the surface of Mars in one of the timelines Worf hops to in Season 7.

I think someone from production said the parts and ferried to space for final assembly.

Which is kind of weird because we'd already seen the Enterprise-D being constructed in space in the Drafting Room 5 simulation in TNG: "Booby Trap":

Voyager would go on to show Galaxy-class ships being constructed in space again in "Relativity":

And of course the TNG Technical Manual explicitly states that the Enterprise was constructed in space, without any mention of components being built on the surface.

Perhaps it's a training facility is used to ensure trainees can learn about starship construction methods safely on the ground and in an atmosphere before they are let loose on the real thing? Or perhaps it's a Galaxy-class starship being deconstructed or wreckage being reconstructed, some sort of forensic analysis? Could it be the Yamato, or the unnamed ship Admiral Hanson was on at Wolf 359?

Or maybe it's just a trick of perspective and it's actually in low orbit, the background just makes it look like it's on the surface

I think that was the Enterprise too. IIRC, you can see the registry number on the nacelles as the shuttle pulls away.
