Spoilers The new (massive spoiler) ship!

I would have preferred to see ships that were a logical technological progression from what we saw in the TNG movies and ST: Voyager. Not ships that were just modified versions of what we've already seen before (which is a hallmark of STO.)

I'm sure only a tiny percentage of fans watching the show actually play the game, so ship popularity shouldn't have been a contributing factor.

Oh sorry, I was just speculating why STO keeps making them, not why they chose them.

But I believe the designs Cryptic submitted were the popular ones, then Dave and his team narrowed them down to the ones we saw. They did submit a four nacelle design, but it wasn't used to keep the Stargazer unique.

There's at least one more STO design in Season 3, the Alita Class (STO's 2nd 25th Century Akira design). Spotted it in the last trailer. It's barely visible during the transition to the Enterprise-F scene.

Maybe a Nova

But it's too blurry to tell, but it's not any of the existing Season 2 STO designs. They had Novas in the Confed universe, so they already had the model.

Ugh, as if we needed another Akira variant...
But this would be only the second in canon. So it wouldn't be 'another variant'.

I meant that the ship inspired the NX-01, the Luna class, and now this ship. Maybe I should have put “variant” in quotes.

That’s not really a good example, since I’m pretty sure that was just an oversight by the art department when they made that Okudagram, and they didn’t actually intend there to be two Galaxy classes (or they just updated the treaty to be concurrent with the times.) Not to mention that there’s only a few decades between the TNG Andromeda class and the STO Andromeda, so name reuse wouldn’t make sense in that context.

Yeah, even for Memory Alpha that's pedantic in the extreme. There's no reason to invent a completely separate type of ship just to accommodate that invisible line.

Occam's Razor says the treaty was simply revised. There needn't have even been any contact with the Sheliak to do this.

Is Timo running the place now?

Nice quote there. Love that series

Either way, I don't think a ship museum should be a big problem ;)

Back when Nemesis came out, and ENT was still on the air, I had a dream they flew past a ship museum in NEM and the NX-01 was in there, among other ships. It was a very vivid dream.

I agree but I mean having the Refit Enterprise A there on display, not a model just imagine how big that would be to walk up to it and just look at it or touch it, if that's allowed, would they let people inside the exhibits?
