Spoilers The new (massive spoiler) ship!

It came from Robert Meyer Burnett, no proof as such but the other stuff he mentioned at the same time were all more or less confirmed later in the trailers (Riker and Picard going to Spacedock, a new Titan*, some sort of celebration/anniversary going on, etc).

*I think he said that the Titan was going through some kind of refit, rather than it being a brand-new ship, but close enough I suppose. And this show doesn't seem to know what it's doing with refits vs brand new anyway.

Do you think the Enterprise-F will play a pivotal role in Season 3 or do you think it's more of a glorified cameo?
I don't think there will be any closeups, the VFX supervisor said on twitter that they didn't upgrade the STO model at all. It's not 'hero quality' like the Titan-A.

and I'm disappointed that if they have chosen to go with an Enterprise-F they used the Odyssey-class
I love the Odyssey class, but I agree with you here. I wanted them to make a new design for the canon -F.

Patrick Stewart did say that the multiple Enterprises in the season did get a bit confusing, implying that they hang around long enough to get confusing in the first place.

LeVar Burton said at a convention a while back they filmed for a couple days on a recreation of one of the Enterprise bridges.

I thought the Ross-class was supposed to be the modernised STO replacement for the Galaxy-class?
In STO lore the Andromeda class is newer. The Ross class is from the 2370s IIRC, and the Andromeda is from the 2410s.

However the Andromeda isn't in Season 2, no idea about 3.

There’s already a canon Andromeda class that the STO version would conflict with, as the canon class is supposed to be older than it.

Although it wouldn’t explain why they felt the need to refit a 100 year old ship. Was Starfleet really hurting for ships that badly?

100-year-old ship they pulled out of mothballs. That would explain it looking like an Enterprise-B contemporary. ;)
Terry already said it's a modern 25th Century starship, it's just inspired by 23rd Century design aesthetics.

No there isn't. There's one mentioned in the Encyclopedia, but it's never been seen or mentioned on screen in any production.

Starfleet's resused class names before, the 23rd century Galaxy-class for example.

That’s not really a good example, since I’m pretty sure that was just an oversight by the art department when they made that Okudagram, and they didn’t actually intend there to be two Galaxy classes (or they just updated the treaty to be concurrent with the times.) Not to mention that there’s only a few decades between the TNG Andromeda class and the STO Andromeda, so name reuse wouldn’t make sense in that context.

It's Picard so I'm not expecting much. I've been let-down too many times when it comes to the ships
