Sir Terry Pratchett:

Sunset in the countryside:

Very nice :)

Thanks for the encouragement TedS. I'm going for surreal~impressionism!
Know I have to work of the basics but when inspiration and wine flows ;)

I like those too. Some nice colors in the second.

K'Ehleyr, having fun with the course yet? ;)

Here's something I've sketched up the last two afternoons:

I don't have a scanner, so that's the photo from my cam^

The cropped and with higher contrast version (because of the bad lighting when I took the photo)

The later version.^

You're taking your time, but it's coming along nicely (I'm faster on a similar scale drawing, but clearly too fast).

Here's a couple of more stuff I've done in the last week:

And here's what I've done as part of a group painting session at a local art club:

And here's what other people had done (not my work):

I think it's a pretty good effort for my first (couple) of finished pages (13 and 14, starting at the beginning is for dorks :p). Lettering is really harder than you'd think; that is, finding a font that didn't look like complete shit and also had the spacing I wanted was harder than you'd think. There was one font, Indy Pimp (it's a font, they all have stupid names), that would have been Goddamned perfect, but for the fact its "I" was spaced as to be basically invisible next to any "M," "N," or what have you.

Drawing-wise. Tried to put a lot of little things in here. My favorite detail is the $1400 Christian Louboutins she's treating like workboots. I also liked playing with time, particularly the keyboard keys. You know how the Flash will break password encryption by entering a billion combinations in a second? That's not how USB connections work. You can't type a 10,000 words a second even if you could move your hands that fast.

I like panel 6 a lot too. I've always said Lois Lane ought to be about 42, so I tried to age up the definitive, Kurt Schaffenberger version, suggestion of silver in her hair, about fifteen pounds heavier, but still, you know, very much alive...

Loser humans and their silly telomeres. When will they learn?

Edit: had to fix something, because I don't understand how time zones work. -_-

I saw a bit of your Superman drawing, it looked good, but then it vanished. Why don't you just use ImageShack or something?

I see it now properly and I like it (you've got your Louis as an avatar). I can even spot the LexCorp. skyscraper in the background.

What do you think of my work?

Getting better, actually. You're getting more adept at symmetry. The last faces are pretty decent.

I'm going to reletter this thing at some point. Looks awful the more I look at it and I think a 10.25 X 6.625(2) rendering would be entirely illegible. I mean, not like this shit's getting printed, but it would behoove me to learn to adhere to standards.

Was doodling earlier and caught my reflection, after a few less successful tries, I got this:

I've been practicing digital painting without using undo lately, so there are some definite patch-jobs in there I didn't spend the time to clean up.

I've been at this a lot longer than you. Keep in mind when you draw something 'real' (not in a cartoony style or whatever) that you aren't actually drawing an eye, or a mouth, or whatever. You're drawing the shapes of light reflecting off of them (or not, in the case of shadows). It is easy to take a shortcut and draw what you think is there, but it will rarely be accurate and until you can fight that instinct you're going to have a hard time improving. I still struggle with it personally, like on the beard and hair where I got lazy and just started throwing down lines to approximate what should be there.
