Saving "The Last Flight of the Protostar, Part I," for having the dramatic honesty to show that, after seeing the deaths of his crew (especially Adreek) and living 10 years in near-isolation, Chakotay is not going to be his usual congenial and easy-going self. Beltran's voice performance is emotionally expressive.

~ I like the look of Prodigy (well, everything except the starships) and most of the characters (Rok-Tahk ), but it's just not for me. I've watched nearly all of season one (and tried one or two of season two), but just can't get into it, I'm sorry to say.

It's sledgehammery at times, but

TOS: "Patterns Of Force"

is underrated at times.

The reasons for commander John Gill interfering with a planet and making one heck of a mistake feel definitely like a square peg being hammered into a hexagonal hole as it doesn't fit quite right, but it's played with proper earnestness and delicacy, especially as WW2 had ended slightly over two decades earlier.

it's interesting that the attempt was made to try to carefully distinct between the end and the means on a contentious subject and time in Earth history. Even if the other salient reason was to do another "parallel Earth development" story to help lessen production costs, which were more formidable than what people often realize. Sci-fi was never cheap to produce, prop and set re-use could not easily be done as it'd be spotted too easily, etc. TOS did a great job at prop and set recycling, but it wasn't enough. So in come parallel Earth stories and season 2 is loaded with them.

Also, what else was Dr Sevrin Malakon doing with drugging the poor guy? (Yup, it's the same actor - Skip Homier - in both Trek roles, and magnificent in both with the perfect nuance played.)

Saving PRO: "Into the Breach, Part I." So you saved the Federation before attaining puberty...now what? The episode shows a believable aftermath to the Protostar's crew coming down to Earth, both literally and metaphorically, and does a deft job of setting up upcoming events. Janeway's actions are about 1000% in character. And what a pleasure to see the EMH again!

C'mon, people, I can't be the only one who's watched Prodigy. This awesome season needs more love!

I wish I liked it more! I really struggle with the serialized plotting on this one. The time travel logic is so tortured, to an extent that it really pushed me out of it. I would do big family watch nights, we'd have kids and adults, and all of us were like "wait, they have to do what with the time travel again?" None of us could make it make sense.

I want to see what everyone else sees! I love the characters, but the story plotting just pushes me out of it.

Oh, it also bugs me that those extraordinarily horrific deaths from the Loom are in the kids show. Those are the most hideous deaths in Star Trek history. I can't believe they didn't undo them, it was much too much.

Fly Me to the Moon has flown away. Picard is removed from the game.

And we have now proven, through vigorous application of scientific method, that Picard season 2 is better than the season 2's of TOS, TAS, VOY, ENT, DIS, ST, SNW, and PRO.

I shall now save "Albatross." I think the story of this one is actually pretty good, but also I love the weirdness of these Brooklyn-y aliens with square eyes so much that I don't need more than that. These aliens make me love this episode totally.

Going to pluck the other half of Such Sweet Sorrow. It was this 2-parter that finally made me love the Constitution. It always looked so tacky and 60s, I appreciated it but did I look at it like I look at most TNG era ships? Not at all.

isn't that bad at all. It oculd be better, as Amelia isn't really explored as much as they could and the whole thing does feel like a gimmick with little payoff. The tone is still right and the cast excel, but the script just can't survive on high concept alone -- though the story could easily be lesser.
