Maybe we are on a "reservation", but we have no idea how likely that is. Perhaps the hypothetical builders of these "megastructures" are imperialistic xenophobic pacifists.

Let's hope they don't decide that we're an infestation that threatens the planet and decide to perform a culling. They might be pacifists but that doesn't mean that they might not practise conservation husbandry in a humane fashion if they consider us to be no higher in development relative to them than we consider rodents are to us.

See how cool it is to speculate and wonder? Even it if does turn out to be nothing, doesn't mean there's nothing out there! I love this stuff!

How could we possibly threaten the planet? We may harm ourselves and other life on Earth, but the planet doesn't care.

I think by "the planet" he was indeed referring to other life on earth.

But these guardians/gardeners might care. And yes, by planet, I did implicitly mean to include the biosphere.

These aliens can build their own custom biospheres from scratch and don't care about ours.

But the original conceit was that they may consider our biosphere an "untouched wilderness" being over run by an out of control species. So building their own custom biospheres doesn't really do much to protect the "park" they might see us as ruining.

My aliens are xenophobes (as conjectured above) and thus we are on a "reservation" not to preserve our world but to isolate it. They don't care what we do as long as we don't interact with them.

Perhaps we're in one of those crap zoos like the one I visited in Paris in the early 80s, where, to me, all the animals looked like they wished they were dead.

    My aliens are my waifus

    OR

Earth is really a huge petting zoo and guess who the animals are?

Kepler Does Not Find Signs of Intelligent Life.

Unless Kepler is real time in gather its data from KIC then delay would be experienced. Since it takes light from KIC 1500 years to reach Earth, the data that was gathered took place 1500 years ago.

If the unknown signals had in fact been planets those signals would have remained consistent and a pattern seeing as how planets orbiting a sun create patterns of light differences across the surface of the sun.

Since those patterns were not detected then whatever Kepler discovered has since moved on.

There were not any solar explosions or black holes recorded in the region and since there is not an established pattern of orbit by planets then whatever it was was artificial.

Maybe they have moved our direction, so in 1500 years we will find out

Of course! Since we don't have enough data to know what's going on it must be artificial. I envy you for your keen insight.

Its obvious soujerner that you do not have any ideas about what people are talking about at any time because your only defense is to word salad when you don't understand something.

As a matter of fact a planet will always cross the surface of the sun it is orbiting regardless of it orbit as all planets orbiting a sun will in fact orbit the sun due to the gravity of the sun maintaining the planets orbit.

So at all times all planets in a solar system are passing across the surface of the sun causing a dim. The only reason you don't see the dim is because of the position of your telescope.

No, I'm the one who usually says it. But he's right.

I think this is a new record.

Not only is it word salad, you didn't even finish tossing it. The words are clumping together.

There is no such thing as a word salad to begin with. Prove that such a thing as a word salad exists. All you are doing is create word associations and nothing more. Not once have any of you raised any questions based on your own questioning but only posting what others have made comments about as if you were handing down some knowledge no one knew about except for you.

I am certain that most if none of you could actually propose anything other than what someone who is popular has already proposed.

Its obvious that none of you make it away from Trek BBS or you would have posted about the new sonic tractor beam that is on every major media channel.
