The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya S2

I thought this season's episodes weren't anywhere near the quality of the first season's, discounting Endless Eight even. It just didn't have the flair of the first; not to mention the horrible K-ON!ification of the character designs. Mediocre and disappointing as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, the whole endless eight thing wasn't really great though I do get a good chuckle out of it when I think about it. Of the episodes that weren't endless eight, I thought they were just as good as what we got from the first season (episode 13 of this season being my second favorite of the franchise).

The animation quality was as good as ever and even though the looks did skew towards the K-onish side I figure that is just how the animation style of Kyoto Ani is developing. Sort of like how you can almost always tell which show is a Bones show or a Gainex show by its art style. K-on in turned looked alot like Clannad After Story. When all is said and done, I really do feel as if this wasn't even meant to be a second season but just an addition to the first that filled in some of the blanks. A directors cut of the first season if you will ;) Hopefully the show will get a real second season in the future

I also think it's a pretty sure bet that this will be licensed shortly too given how much the first season sold here. If it hasn't already.

Maybe it's because I've been watching a lot of stuff lately, but of all the KyoAni stuff that I've seen, the only thing that looks completely different is Lucky Star. Everything else seems to share the same base design.

As for licensing, I still don't know how you sell the DVDs. It just doesn't work with the first season box set (which I think is awesome, but I'm a nerd) and most people probably didn't enjoy the whole Endless Eight thing enough to want to buy something that features 8 episodes with the exact same plot.

They might have to do a "chronological order" box set just to balance out the wackiness of S2.

I do agree that Sighs is fairly unexciting... probably because the movie opens the series. I haven't been compelled to finish off what remains. (I still need to start Tokyo M8, although the Internet seems to have turned on it and shunned it to hell).

you should consider watching those last couple of episodes. They were really good and I mean seriously, you got through ALL of endless eight. Don't you want the payoff? :p

It's weird, because I just have that "well, I know the movie gets made" feeling. It's like I'm watching the DVD making of special for the movie within the show.

But yeah, I should just finish it off just before the new season starts or I'll just keep pushing it back further and further.
