Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

That's the panel where Filoni almost chokes up twice. Good stuff.

They briefly mention season 2 in that video, as some of them had just come from working on it a few hours prior, so be forewarned that there are some very minor spoilers (mainly about who's working on it I guess).

Here's a fun diversion!

The real question is, is "Mandalorian" a rehash of star Wars Episode VII or not?

My husband and I were a bit disappointed. It was just a little boring. We didn't get enough about the main character to really care what happens to him. I find it difficult to get invested in shows where I don't feel anything relatable or intriguing from the main character.

For me personally, I've never really been into battle sequences, and I find characters like Boba Fett to be incredibly one-dimensional and boring. So I'm not surprised at all that I was not into this episode. However, my husband is a huge Star Wars fan and was really excited about this show. It's right up his alley. It definitely felt like a western, and he's obsessed with westerns. But even he thought it dragged a bit too much and didn't give us quite enough for a first episode.

With all that said, we're still planning to watch at least a couple more episodes to see if it improves. Pilot episodes can be weird, so I try not to judge shows on that alone.

If it helps, I'm 100% in agreement with you and your husband.

Gonk droids have shown up dozens of times in Star Wars media. Very popular Easter egg fodder.

And yeah, this episode was LOADED with Easter eggs. We'll see if that was just the premiere only, or if the whole season is going to be like this.
Yeah, if gonk droids count as an easter egg, then so do blasters, Stormtroopers and carbonite. ;)

To my way of thinking, to qualify as an easter egg it has to be both obscure and specific. Power droids are just a part of a the texture of the Star Wars universe.

Episode 2 is a little shorter. About 32 minutes. But it is still pretty fun. Im not going to complain about the length because frankly I’m sick and tired of shows being too long just to fit into a time slot. These episodes or chapters as they’re called are the length the storytellers want to tell this part of the story in. Nothing is dragging nor does it seem too short. It’s actually kinda refreshing.

I’m really enjoying Nick Nolte’s character. And the mystery around the child is pretty compelling. The Mandalorian seems to me to be pretty reckless which is kind of a nice character trait to have when those we’ve know before in Mando armor have been pretty cool and collected. Also it just continues to be a gorgeous series. Can’t wait until next week!

I can't believe I live in a world where a bunch of pop sci-fi fans think that Predator sucks and don't know who Apollo Creed is.

I want my momma. :wah:
I'm more disappointed, nay... ashamed, that there hasn't been a solitary mention of the Carl Weather's classic Action Jackson in this entire discussion of his body of work. The man chases a dyed-blond karate-chopping Coach Craig T. Nelson up a flight of stairs, IN HIS HOUSE, with a Pontiac Fiero —the eightiest of 80s cars! You can't buy entertainment like that. Well, you can, in the dollar DVD bin of your local store, but I mean it's just that good.

Episode 2 was good.
I was a little surprised they just had him disintegrating so many of the Jawas. The whole sequence with him going after the Sandcrawler was pretty cool.
Loved the stuff with baby Yoda, especially him saving the Mandalorian from the creature.
Kuiil was pretty cool, I was glad we got to spend some more time with him in this one.
I was shocked how short it was, but it worked.
So I had a crazy thought while I was watching the episode, maybe the baby Yoda is a literal Baby Yoda. As in a clone of Yoda himself that Palpatine or someone else had created. The only problem is I'm not really sure if the timeline would work for that.

The second episode is fine but I can’t think of any reason other than budgetary why the first 2 episodes couldn’t be combined into one episode. It can’t have that much bigger of a budget than Star Trek Discovery and yet it’s only 8 episodes compared to 15 and 14 for Discovery’s 2 seasons.

I suggested this elsewhere but I wonder if in some form or another this isn't leading into the Project Luminous thing the publishing portion of Star Wars is teasing for next year.

Well, it's official now. From disappointing, this show has now become terrible.

What an utter waste of an episode. Nothing of consequence happens. The only thing remotely significant is the Mando seeing the baby use the Force. Which you could have easily put into any other story or episode that actually mattered.

The only remotely interesting scene was at the end where the Mando and Kuilli say their good-byes, as the Mando has more than one single line of dialogue at a time and we see the tiniest glimmer of characterization from those two.

Everything else is generally pretty bad if not awful. The Mando proves himself again to be pretty crappy at his job and pretty dumb. His plan for confronting the Jawas was not only stupid but needlessly violet and cruel. He straight up murders three people for no reason. He then kills an animal who is defending its egg.

I'd advise people who haven't seen it to literally just skip to episode 3. You won't miss a single thing except the pain of enduring it.
