Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

There is no reason why they shouldn't.
Well, physics for one? Not in terms of visual fidelity of course, just in practical terms.
Like I said, the headpiece presents a significant challenge for anything other than standing/sitting/kneeling in place. It's basically a big lump of foam latex and/or silicone attached to a person's head with glue.
There's a reason the practical Twi'lek headpieces almost always include a headdress with a chinstrap. The headdress helps hide the join (especially if it moves unnaturally) and the strap helps keep the damn thing in place so it's not dependent on a relatively small surface area of adhesive.
You can't really do that with Ahsoka's design since the headdresses worn by her or any togruta we've seen don't feature chinstraps, and even if they did the piece with the montrals would be much more top heavy, making it more difficult to hold in place. It probably also doesn't help that the ears would need to be covered, making your actress effectively deaf.

So yeah, I think the headpiece is going to have to be a digital/practical hybrid arrangement. Probably with silicon pieces on the forehead to cover the eyebrows, and maybe the edges of the headpiece where it joins to the face and neck so the headdress has something physical to interact with, and some lekku with motion tracking markers to save on physics simulation.

They'll probably have a full practical bust made up on set for lighting reference though.

And if nothing else, she seems to have the signature poses down. ;)

I could see them doing the full face makeup and everything, just with it ending at the headtails. I've seen them do that kind of thing before where there are just parts of the character that are hard to do as practical effects.

Natalia Tena's lekku seemed to have more than enough "bounce" (for lack of a better term) to them. I suspect the character itself was meant as some kind of prototype testbed - not just to see if they could get it to work but make it look good on a series budget.

I don't think anyone mentioned on here that there are also rumors coming out of the Hollywood Reporter (link to IGN story) that Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka is going to also be spun-off into her own series. Usually I'd blow something like this off, but The Hollywood Reporter is one of the best sources of trustworthy Hollywood news so if they're reporting it, there's a pretty good chance it's true.

Well, yeah I thought that would be obvious.
If it was just a one-off cameo you don't hire someone like Rosario Dawson--because 1) money and 2) it wouldn't be worth her time--AND you wouldn't then leak it ahead of time; because Baby Yoda proved that there's no way something like this leaks by accident. Indeed, if it was just going to be a one-off, they'd probably just use Eckstein.

Whatever Ahsoka's involvement in The Mandalorian S2 ends up being, it probably won't have anything to do with the epilogue of Rebels because it's doubtful that her and Sabine's search for Ezra took 5 years.

That all rather depends on what happens along the way. I mean it didn't even get going until about 5 years later to begin with, and once they found him, who knows what it took for everyone to make it back to civilisation. Stories being what they are, I doubt they just grabbed Ezra and sauntered back to Lothal in an afternoon.

So what does this mean for the Rebel sequel series? Assuming its happening.
It probably depends on what exactly is established in her appearances on The Mandalorian.
EDIT: I really hope if we do get the live action show, that they make Dave Filoni the showrunner. He's pretty much been the main creator behind her story since she was introduced, so it would only be fair to let him be the one to continue her story. Hmm, maybe that was the whole reason he was given the Mandalorian job, as a way to get him ready for the Ahsoka show.

From what's been said over the years, it looks like *nothing* happens with Ahsoka without at least his OK, if not direct involvement. So it's a safe bet that if there's an Ahsoka show or movie, then it'll be HIS show or movie. ;)

Soo.. Was Ashley Eckstien asked?
I know that Ashley's acting creditials are a bit lacking.. Yes she's done plenty of voice work, but prior to that mainly bit parts. but.. just asking.. was she asked? Was she screen tested?? Was she tested for the makeup to see if she's okay with it???
I'm sorry.. but NOT even asking the voice actress to portray her in live action is a bit of a crap to me..

I'm of the opinion that ALL the voice actors in Rebels can portray them in Live Action!!

Well all we have is rumours and reporting, not even official confirmation yet, so we're hardly likely to know the details of the casting process at this point...

But hypothetically, if she were given first refusal then I can't see her turning it down. So the fact that it's not her in the role (so far as we know at least, there's a slim possibility she may be Sam Witwering it) tells us that no, she wasn't given first refusal. They may have auditioned her, even done a screen test to see if it'd work...and yet again, we have the same end result.

Basically we're all too ill informed right now to have any intelligent insight on the matter, so just best to wait and see.

True, we know nothing.. and she may have been asked, and all that, and she may have said no.. but just saying.. she should be included in the actresses that could be her in live action.
Tiya Sircar looks nothing like Sabine.. but i want HER for a live action Sabine..

Well if she keeps the helmet on the whole time... ;)
I mean, I agree with you, but you're asking a lot of a bored fandom right now ;)
Oh I know. I just thought it best to point that out before people start constructing narratives about behind the scenes drama based on zero information. Sadly it's become very necessary with the Star Wars fandom of late...

well.. if Ahsoka meets Mando.. and he pulls.. I can't remove my helmet.. Hope she say.. Uh huh.. sure.. except EVERY other mando I've known..

Ahsoka at the very least has experience with mandos, having been there at the end of the Clone Wars, and helped with the Duchess during said Clone War.

Ashley Eckstein has said that she is not involved with The Mandalorian. While I am a bit disappointed, I'm not really that upset, it's very rare for voice actors to get to play their characters in live action to.
The article also mentions an incident involving Rosario Dawson that I hadn't heard about before, which paints her in a not very good light.
EDIT: Just saw the news about Micheal Beihn, which has me very happy, he was great in the Terminator movies and Aliens.
