Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

A new interview has been posted where Filoni and Favreau talk about the challenge of keeping Baby Yoda a secret, and Filoni also address the Boba Fett question. The thing I found interesting about the Fett thing is that he doesn't just say no, instead he talks about how he was the one who brought back Maul, and that when fans love something, it "fuels possibility and believeability".
I always find a bit suspicious when a writer or director is asked a direct question like this, but then gives that kind of a non-answer answer.

I don't think he's a Mary Sue... but, I also don't think he's much of a character. Getting thrown off a space lizard and zapping some Jawas, for me, does not a character make.

He's quite a cypher for me and I don't have any feels towards him so I don't care if he succeeds or not, at this point.
Same here. He looks cool...

I at least like him, which more than I can say for Boba Fett.

I dunno - I kind of prefer that over Abrams' "Khan is not Khan" BS back in "Darkness". Keep the secrets and keep it interesting, but don't lie to me. It didn't help that not many people liked that particular film, either.

That's pretty much how Dave Filloni answers every question though. ;)

So, on the last ever Jim Jeferries Show yesterday...

With all the options out there today i don't want to to burden you with more decisions about what to watch on TV, which is why my show is ending... However... have you seen the Mandalorian? ...It's really good. The secret to it's brilliance is the baby Yoda. If we had a baby Yoda, we'd still be on tv, but unfortunately we ate ours just before the first episode.

I'd be perfectly fine if Mando ran across Boba Fett in season 2 or something like that. That one guy in the background guarding the door doesn't have to be Boba. There are only so many colors for people to choose from when designing their armor, so that guy probably just looked similar. (Though if that was Boba, that'd be a pretty stealthy way to bring him back, which would be kinda cool.)

And as for the question of bringing back Boba in the first place, I seem to recall that just about ALL OF US have been speculating that Boba escaped the Sarlacc for about 35 straight years now. Thank goodness Mando didn't turn out to be Boba, because that would have been just about the least surprising reveal of all time.

I remember a long time ago that Fett was supposed to be the last of the Mandalorians. I guess maybe there was an allusion to this with the mentioning of some “Great Purge” by the armorer in E1. Obviously, that was long overruled by the second trilogy and Rebels. Either way, I’m glad they’re finally going to explore more of this branch of the mythology. Now if we could get a series about the original Sith race...

This show really doesn't need Boba. If we see someone wearing the same colours; that just means they belong to whatever clan or house Boba's armor was forged by before he acquired it.

That said, in the purely hypothetical scenario where they do do a post-Sarlacc Boba story: I'd like him to be sans armor. Just a beat up, retired, horribly scarred Temuera Morrison who's done with the life and settled down with a family...until someone figures out who he is and a never-ending parade of wannabe's keep showing up to either get him to train them, or try to make a reputation for themselves by offing him.
They you get the inevitable "coming out of retirement for one last job" story, so he can *very publicly* go out in a blaze of glory, fake his death and be gone from the galaxy for good.

Yes, it's tropey as hell, but that the point since that's what the character started out as: a walking trope. Plus it's appropriate that if he was partly inspired by Eastwood in 'A Fistful of Dollars', he should go out on an 'Unforgiven' note. ;)

That's Jango's armor with a custom Boba paint job isn't it?
