The least disliked Star Trek movie (I-X)

I'm voting for ST5:TFF, just like last time. This time I'm voting for it because Kirk's fight with the cat lady was the least exciting action scene in any Trek movie (the dune buggy scene in Nemesis comes in second, but at least that one had the cool jump onto the shuttle at the end).

A different reason each time! I like it! :bolian:

Well, I'll do the honors and axe The Final Frontier. The absurdity of Sha Ka Ree and the "God" alien takes the cake. Sean Connery was good to distance himself from this film, but his legacy will live on in the name they chose for heaven.

In round 3, I'll give it to Search For Spock. McCoy acts like a looney for the whole movie, and the way Klingons are portrayed in this film makes me want Doc Brown take me back in time to before I watched it. Also, it took the good idea of killing a main character and totally pooped on it.

Voting for GEN because it is the most unwatchable film remaining in the list. GEN failed to launch TNG the way it could have done and I really disliked that TUC's send off to TOS crew was rendered pointless by this movie.

I love all the movies remaining, but I'll have to go with First Contact as my least favourite - it's way overrated by fandom IMHO. Ducks for cover...

I like GENERATIONS..I always have. There's a soft spot in my heart for the film that passed the torch from Kirk to Picard. But it's the weakest of the ones that are left.

The cool jump was a poor imitation of Emergency Landing Plan B.

In all fairness, McCoy acts like a looney because of Spock's katra. It's an intentional plot point specifically said by the movie itself. But of course, I digress.

Generations, you're getting my vote! Just the way things were haphazardly put together (Spock's lines going to Scotty, the strange and almost extreme lighting, the vertigo-inducing Stellar Cartography lab, the massive plot holes of the Nexus). And AGAIN with the Klingons!

I just threw a shoe at you. It's easily my 1st or 2nd favorite of the 10 movies.

AGAIN with the Klingons!
Star Trek XII should have been on this list ;)

I'll give it to Search for Spock again. I'm just not ready to vote for Generations yet, even though it will probably earn my next vote.

Tossing in a vote for TMP. Yes, it's shiny 70s/80s eyecandy but if the plot and dialogue moved any slower, we'd be driving in reverse.

Of the remaining movies I would have to vote for Generations, the way they killed off a pop culture icon like Kirk is unforgivable and the way the Enterprise-D was destroyed was stupid and disappointing.

Corrected the vote, and added a vote for TMP. Even in the form of the Director's Edition it's bloated and poorly paced, weakly scripted, and often poorly directed (Wise's blocking can be awkward as hell, and his overuse of the split diopter is a distraction rather than a flourish).

Star Trek: The Motion Picture...much of the movie feels like padding...the transporter accident, the wormhole incident etc. It's really obvious that this is a movie meant to be a 45 minute pilot but got stretched out to be feature length.

The Motion Picture - Sometimes I appreciate the slow, atmospheric style of it, but it simply can't compete with the remaining ones.

For what its worth, I don't think Nemesis is nearly as bad as people say it is. I rather enjoyed it. It made some mistakes plotwise, but at least there weren't obscenely blatant continuity errors (the Enterprise suddenly has over 70 decks?

The Enterprise suddenly has 29 decks? ('Though, to be fair, that one was inconsistent even within First Contact; "There are 24 decks" ... "It's pretty bad, Sir. Looks like they've assimilated decks 26 up to 11" - which if you think about it, sounds like an unlikely Spinal Tap reference from Lt. Daniels), and not only that but there's a bottomless shaft leading down from Deck 29?

You'd have thought Lore would have gotten a mention too. "Hey, remember when we last came across another Data in pieces on a deserted world and reassembled him, and it turned out not to be such a great idea? No? Anyone? OK, just checking."

I'll just leave this oft-posted little gem here...
