I'll vote first for the season 1 finale. It's a good episode but I'm not sure it belongs on any list of the best episodes of the series. For me it's the weakest here.

I'm voting for the same episode and for the same reasons. This list is awesome all-round though, man DS9 was an awesome show... Hope we get a blu ray remastering of it once TNG finishes!

1 vote for Improbable Cause. The story was very good when you put the two-parter together. However, if you watch just the first part on its own, not a lot really happens.

I'm fixing the list because someone randomly added a point to WYLB for some reason. ;)

Another vote for In the Hands of the Prophets. Great season 1 episode, but the bar was raised in subsequent seasons. Robin Christopher (not to be confused with Christopher Robin) sure was a good looking lady.

I'll kill the Hands of the Prophets. Good episode, Winn and Bareil were interesting, but really only sets up the great things to come than aspire to greatness itself.

^Scores reset, and you could have voted for the next round right away.

I guess I'll vote for The Wire, and I love that episode. I guess if I were asked about my top 14 episodes, they would be these.

That's correct.

My next vote goes to Return to Grace. I think that Starship Down should've been runner-up over this one. It's the weakest left in my view. DS9 is so strong that at this point of the game, pretty much every round is going to be a matter of "this is a great episode but I like the others more".

Pretty much what you said. Good episode, but a Dukat/Kira character piece is not -as- good as the rest. Return to Grace +1

Mine goes to the pilot "Emissary"

Another vote for Emissary - never did much for me, neither as a pilot to a TV-series, nor as an introduction to one of the main series arcs and the main characters. I'm happy DS9 got so good despite this pilot episode. *g*

Return to Grace is easily the weakest episode here for me. It's merely good, whilst everything else is very good or excellent.

Return to Grace: great concept, and great performances. However, I felt that the dialogue went to far with Dukat, making him seem both unimaginative and incompetent. That's unrealisitc. Effectively, Kira set up the Cardassian resistance.

And we're back to zero - Return to Grace is gone. Now I'm going to have to start pulling teeth. I think Emissary is a brilliant opener to the series, and is also one of the best Trek pilots. It's just lesser than the rest. If you want an actual reason, then Bashir is a bit of a jerk. :D
