I feel that Choose Your Pain is the weakest one here. The best part were seeing Saru struggling with command whilst being in charge of Burnham. Lorca's capturing was a little dull.

If Memory Serves is weaker than Chose Your Pain or Wolf Inside?

Damn man, you basically said in the "Rank S1" thread that all the S1 episodes were worthless except Context to the point where they couldn't even be written down.

Is If Memory Serves that bad?? I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, particularly given your aversion to anything that connects to TOS, but wow.....Choose Your Pain and Wolf Inside, in my opinion, made this list because the game itself is flawed. They are about as "run of the mill"'as it gets, and got there due to voter preference and bad timing. And you yourself basically condem them as S1 trash. So all things being relative, you are pretty much saying If Memory Serves is rat feces.

Not trying to argue or challenge....just genuinely seeking understanding.

On the contrary, the game is perfectly designed for the task of finding the least disliked episode. Those seeking a method to determine a fan-consensus best episode should probably look elsewhere (a poll thread?). The unpredictability of specific voter preference and the randomness of timing is pretty much the whole point of this one.

Heh, and after reading that I belatedly realized that "Choose Your Pain", "Magic", and "Wolf Inside" are my 3 clear favorites from season 1. So, there's that too. Don't make the mistake of assuming that Objective Good Taste is whatever your personal taste happens to be.

I'm going to be flipping a coin pretty much all throughout this final round, since most of these episodes I have the same assessment: mostly love it, but undeniably marred by serious flaws. I'll give my point this time to "Magic." I love it and it's whole dreamy romanticism vibe, but that unsatisfying ending really rankles.

That said, I'll give The Wolf Inside its 4th vote, eliminating it. Fine episode, but not one of my favorites of season 1. In fact, almost none of my favorites from either season made it to the finals.

This is now REALLY hard. I think I'll go M2MTSMGM, but mainly because it was inconsequential. It was between this and Project Daedalus, but that episode had great performances, whereas "Magic" is just fun. Also, "Magic" feels like it should be a VOY episode.
