I actually don’t know if I agree that Tuvok was doing his job. His Captain made the decision to make Chakotay the first officer (which included being Tuvok’s commanding officer). Tuvok was going to train his security team to view their first officer as a potential threat even though he would also be their commanding officer? It seems pretty inappropriate chain of command wise and destructive. If he had made it more generic maybe like a training for a theoretical mutiny.
Also, why did he have such an unrealistic view of how Chakotay would behave after serving with him in the Marquis?
It was completely in character for Tuvok though - I got the impression he really didn't like Janeway's decision to make Chakotay first officer and he tried (successfully) to keep Chakotay out of the loop about what was really happening when Tom went undercover in season 2.
