VERY happy to FINALLY kill INTO DARKNESS. Absurdly terrible movie, by far the worst of the 13. Unimaginable that it lasted the game this long.


My vote for the new round is 2009 STAR TREK. Despite it bringing in a new audience to reignite interest in the franchise, it is still the second worst movie of the franchise. Yes... worse than NEMESIS.

Exactly, ST2009 was a mess and still propelled JJ Abrams to eventually wreck Star Wars too. I am still pissed off they had the original Enterprise Klaxon in the trailer and not in the movie. I can say many other bad things about it but I'll stop here for brevity.

I'll finish off TMP, which I only enjoy as a historical curiosity. It's impossible to engage with as a film.

I'm sure I'll be alone in this, but I'll start the next round with a vote for Wrath Of Khan. I find it over-rated.

I've tried to come to it with fresh eyes so many times, too. I keep thinking the next rewatch is going to be the one where it clicks for me and I see what everyone else sees. Hasn't happened yet.

Then I will switch to 09. There's really a lot to like about 09 and I could've theoretically ranked it higher than a couple of the other remaining ones if it weren't for that incredible waste of an alternate universe (and in the dumbest possible way). Don't blow up Vulcan to prove you're not beholden to old Trek and then force *every* *single* character into their classic crew position by the end of the movie despite many of those career paths making no damn sense whatsoever. This ain't Star Wars, the crew are not destined for those specific jobs and nothing else.

I still wonder how good the sequel could've been with Captain Spock and Lieutenant Commander Kirk.

(Also, Leonard Nimoy's lines in this movie are just so terrible and that's an insult to the franchise in itself.)

I really got caught up in the Capt. Robau/George Kirk (swoon! ) opener of 2009, but it went rapidly downhill from there, but at least it had that.

So I'm going with The Undiscovered Country again because I just can't understand how/why the main characters were treated so badly. An appalling movie (Martia was pretty cool, though)
