Right now (1:00PM Florida time, again on Tuesday), Smugglers Run is tied with Slinky, 60 minutes apiece. It's not as high as Hagrid's motorbike ride at Universal, but it is not an Apples to Apples comparison (I'm a theme park nerd). First, Disney World has a LOT more going on, 83 attractions to Universal's 48, so if a line is too long, there are other attractions to go to. In addition, there are 2 attractions with those kinds of wait times: Hagrid with 90, Transformers 3D with 60. The next highest is 40 minutes (on 2 rides) everything else is lower. Disney World, meanwhile, currently has 9 attractions in the same ballpark as Smuggler's Run (50-65 minutes), and another 7 in the 40-45 range. So frankly, if one line is too long, you go find another that's shorter. Also, there are a LOT of reports of problems on Hagrid that causes it to be down for extended periods (for example, the first month it didn't even open the first 3 hours the park was open while they performed testing and maintenance in the mornings). There are other factors like FastPass vs ExpressPass, but for the most part, Smuggler's Run being in the very top tier of a LOT of compelling attractions shows us that it is not, in fact, a failure.
