The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

Little bit of politics: as of today, when Andy Burnham became Britain’s prime minister, there have been more British PMs since 2016 than there have been official James Bond cinematic actors ever.

althought lol lol what if there was more british prime minsters since 2016 in the james bond universe than there was real life british prime minsters in the real world

as in in real life there have been alrighty 7 uk prime minsters since 2016 well what if in the james bond universe there was like between 8 to 12 uk pm since 2016

Emphasis on when. The United States has to hold onto their shitty leaders for four years regardless of how awful they are by all metrics.

No, impeachment and removal could work. Nixon resigned instead of facing the music. Some of us were even alive at the time and got to witness it (on TV).

At least both of you have the ability to remove your leaders when they suck.

Johnson, Clinton, and Trump were all impeached, put on trial, and might have been removed. In Johnson's case, the balance for acquittal was a single vote, so it was not really only theoretically possible, in his case.

At the risk of derailment, it's theoretical and nothing more. The current president has proven that it doesn't work no matter how awful his actions are. It's all dependent on too many steps and too many variables, all of which are swayed by corruption.

We have a mechanism but it does not work, never has, and I seriouly doubt it ever will. That's very different from the UK.

If he's still here in 2029 I'll agree with you.

Oh look! James Bond!

I'm going to hard disagree that it "never has" worked. The assuredness that it was going to work was the reason Nixon resigned. Without it, there would have been literally no pressure for his resignation. The process did not need to be executed for its threat to be felt and action taken to avoid it.

To return it to the topic, it would be like saying that, all those times that James Bond never took a bullet, he was never in actual danger: See! He was not shot.

So i posted this in the Star City thread but watching Anna Maxwell Martin as Lyudmilla Raskova makes me think she would be an excellent Rosa Klebb in a From Russia With Love reboot (although seriously hoping that does not to come to pass).

John F. Kennedy (1961–1963)
Dr. No (1962)
From Russia with Love (1963)

Lyndon B. Johnson (1963–1969)
Goldfinger (1964)
Thunderball (1965)
You Only Live Twice (1967)

Richard Nixon (1969–1974)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
Live and Let Die (1973)

Gerald Ford (1974–1977)
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)

Jimmy Carter (1977–1981)
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Moonraker (1979)

Ronald Reagan (1981–1989)
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
Octopussy (1983)
A View to a Kill (1985)
The Living Daylights (1987)

George H. W. Bush (1989–1993)
Licence to Kill (1989)

Bill Clinton (1993–2001)
GoldenEye (1995)
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
The World Is Not Enough (1999)

George W. Bush (2001–2009)
Die Another Day (2002)
Casino Royale (2006)
Quantum of Solace (2008)

Barack Obama (2009–2017)
Skyfall (2012)
SPECTRE (2015)

Donald Trump (2017–2021)
No theatrical Bond film premieres (The release of No Time To Die was delayed)

Joe Biden (2021–2025)
No Time to Die (2021)

So Reagan holds the record with 4.

By decade that gives us:
1960's: 6
1970's: 5
1980's: 5
1990's: 3
2000's: 3
2010's: 2!
2020's: 1
