The "I'm excited about the new movie" thread.

I actually wanted to call it the "I'm excited about the new movie and tired of all the negativity around here sometimes" thread, but that wouldn't fit

Ok, I want this to be a positive thread. If you have something bad to say about the new movie - post your concerns somewhere else. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - IDIC and all that, but I really want this thread to focus on the new movie in a positive way. Feel free to open your own "I'm not excited thread" if you want to complain, mock, express disappointment etc. :p

Firstly, I'm excited about the new movie. I'm a 30 year old man and I don't mind admitting I havent been this excited about a new movie in years. There. I've said it. Damn, I wish this movie was out next week. I keep forgetting it's not cool to be excited when you are supposed to be an adult - paying bills and going to work etc.

Thus far, pretty much everything I've seen and heard about the movie looks great. Pretty much how I would have done it (Well, I might have left the time travel out , but we'll see - I have faith) I like the creative team, the casting, the buzz. Everything. I honestly don't remember it being like this when NEMESIS came out. Damn, if I didnt get a little giddy when JJ confirmed the doors will go swoosh in the movie :D

So come on, don't be afraid! If you are excited about the new Star Trek movie then post here!

Who's with me? :D

Right there with ya, Jon. I'm a 43 year old man, and I'm practically aquiver at the potential in this new movie. My wife has stopped rolling her eyes when I mention it since she saw the teaser. High praise from her. I can't wait! :)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Unlike the last few films and series, I don't really know what I'm going to get.

I'm with you, Jon. I think there is a lot to be excited about:

- I've been waiting for Paramount to do a recast since it was mentioned as the idea for Star Trek VI (Starfleet Academy) back in 1989.

- I think Quinto is a spot-on match for Spock.

- I love the tease we've got of the new Ent.

- I have high hopes TPTB are real fans and have written a quality Trek movie.

- I just saw 'The Incredibles' and absolutely LOVED the music!

I for one am incredibly excited. The Enterprise looks great, and I've always liked the stuff Abrams does, so I'm looking forward to this. Because I'm a young wipper-snapper compared to the rest of y'all, this is only the second Trek movie I've known about before it actually comes out, but I'm definately more excited for this than I was for Nemesis.

I'm 28 and I feel almost as excited about Trek as when I was seven and saw 'Who mourns for Adonis' as my first Trek episode ever...

You know what's sad...the fact that if you express your enjoyment for the entertainment you love, that you'd be accused of being a "gusher". Well I don't know how the movie will turn out, perhaps it will be awful, but the fact that a ST movie is coming out, and on top of that, there is a movement to make it epic with fresh blood on the project, makes me very excited. Probably more excited than I've been for a Trek movie since STIV(when I was 16).

And especially when Abrams called you "Dude" (I'm jealous of you Dude)...

I'm a 42 year old man and I am excited about the prospects of a new Trek. It is reassuring that someone in Hollywood actually recognized that something was wrong with the most recent formula for Star Trek. My wife was a big fan of TNG (moreso than TOS), but she is ready to see the film with me.

And ST-One --

I too can remember the very first Trek I saw. It was in 1972 or '73 and the episode was Space Seed. I was completely and blissfully ignorant to what Star Trek was (i.e. I never heard of it before that day), but I was mesmerized by the sight of the crew beaming into the 'Botany Bay' for the first time (they appeared out of thin air! WTF!) and later of the tall thin pale guy with the pointed ears.

I don't know if this new film will fill me with same same sense of wonder, but if it can give 1/4 as much, that will be enough.

Hell yes! I don't know the last time when I developed so much enthusiasm for Trek.

I get more excited about this movie the more I hear about it. Abrams and Co seem to have a certain amount of respect for the franchise and are taking it seriously, but also seem to be having fun with it. I'm very happy at seeing another adventure with the original crew. Years ago I would have been a little more upset about recasting, but now I think its really the only option if we want to see this crew in action again. James Cawley's interview about what he saw on-set really hyped me up. James is the uber-Trekkie and a traditionalist as far as Trek goes & he seems enthusiastic about the project despite it not being the film he would have made. Heck, its probably not the film I would have made either, but that doesn't mean it won't be a good film. The only thing I hate is that we have to wait until December!!

"Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Unlike the last few films and series, I don't really know what I'm going to get."

Thank goodness. :D

I was already excited to begin with, just by virtue of the team Abrams was bringing together (especially Michael Giacchino), but a lot of what was said in the TMR chat last week was really outstanding. Abrams is psyched, the writers are psyched, the cast is psyched. You don't get the feeling like they're just going through the motions here (like the TNG cast were on their last two movies). That sort of genuine enthusiasm is contagious.

Hopefully it translates into a successful marketing and word-of-mouth campaign so there'll be plenty of butts in the seats on opening weekend.

I always look forward to a new Trek movie, even in the absence of receiving any hype. And even thoug I have been slightly disappointed in the past I come back. Bad Trek is better than No Trek. Like a junkie who knows that the smack is only going to bring him more trouble, I return for another fix.

BRING IT ON.

I'm terribly excited. It'll be great to see the Enterprise on the big-screen. Never gotten a chance to see any of the movies in theaters. I'll probably cheer when Nimoy appears on-screen.

It's been 3 years since I was here on the trek BBS.
Enterprise and Nemesis made me go to sleep relly. :)
But now im back very hyped on this new trek movie. And that JJ is doing the film is the best vitimin shot this franschice need. I like it.
Alias and Lost ( lost, only first season) are ok shows to

The teaser made me super giddy. I actually had to repress giggling otherwise my friends would have looked at me very strangely. I however could not stop myself from hopping up and down ever so slightly in my seat as I saw the welding guys and muttered "This is it!" :)

I've wanted a fresh take on Trek for years, but I have also felt that the 23rd century had much to offer story-wise. It is also exciting to no end to know we're going to see the original E back on the big screen once again, something I would have not thought possible only 2 or 3 years ago. :)

The thing I'm MOST excited about-- more than the casting or the reboot idea-- is just the fact that we finally have a new creative team working on Star Trek.

Berman definitely had some good years at the helm, but by the end Trek was just feeling too stagnant and factory-produced.

Abrams seems to be much more in the Harve Bennett mold, and it really feels like he's creating a real MOVIE here. The Trek XI teaser alone has more atmosphere and scale to it than the entire last two TNG movies put TOGETHER.

I'm very excited. I haven't been this excited about an upcoming Star Trek film since First Contact. I'm really stoked to have this film being done by the people behind Alias and Lost two shows which I really love. And it's not just because of their past work but all the things they're saying about Star Trek (XI) are getting me excited. The casting too.
