The "I'm excited about the new movie" thread.

I am very hopeful about this film. New production blood is what this franchise has needed for a long while, and now that we have it, I expect nothing but good out of this film!

I'm very excited about the movie - I can't wait to see JJ's take on Trek. I'm especially excited about Simon Pegg's role, as I've been a huge fan of his for at least 10 years.

I am beside myself with excitement for this movie. I'm actually afraid to talk about it with people I know because so far I haven't met anyone nearly as excited as I am outside the Internet, and once I start talking about it I can't seem to stop gushing about it! I know there's a chance I could be horribly disappointed, but considering that Spock is my favorite character, even if the movie doesn't turn out to be that good, I know I will enjoy seeing Nimoy take on the role one last time. At least when it comes to the character Spock, I really don't believe Nimoy would have come out of retirement to take on that role again if he didn't find anything worthy about his part in the script. He's always been protective of his character, so I feel certain even if all else about this movie doesn't work, seeing Spock again should at least be fun.

Although I grew up on TNG because TOS was before my time (im 26) The Original Series was the first complete series I bought on DVD. Moviewise its always come second to TNG because Im a visual effects kind of person...

...Now I get to see TOS kick TNG's (_)_) when it comes to visual effect and I cant wait!!!!

I'm not exactly giddy about this movie, but I really hope I'm gonna like it. I never cared much for TOS, so no "childhood-raping" for me. ;)
And "Alias" is one of my favourite shows, so I keep my fingers crossed that Abrams will make this equally awsome.

As long as there's not the excessive amount of "Shakey Cam" in this puppy (Cloverfield damn near made me ill) Count me in...

The thing I'm MOST excited about-- more than the casting or the reboot idea-- is just the fact that we finally have a new creative team working on Star Trek.

Berman definitely had some good years at the helm, but by the end Trek was just feeling too stagnant and factory-produced.

Abrams seems to be much more in the Harve Bennett mold, and it really feels like he's creating a real MOVIE here. The Trek XI teaser alone has more atmosphere and scale to it than the entire last two TNG movies put TOGETHER.

What 'e said :D

I'm really excited about this film. Initially I was a bit 'hmmm' about the whole idea, but the news that comes out of the studio (what little there is!) has been positive, and the trailer blew me away. I have nerd-spine-chills about this film in a way that I haven't had about Trek in a long time.
My hopes are high.

I'll be older than I care to mention when Trek XI comes out and I'm realy looking forward to it. I've been hoping we might see some new TOS production for years and with the team behind this, chances are it'll be well worth the wait.

I'll have just turned 36 (good Lord...) when XI hits the theater and I'm really excited, more so than I was for First Contact. I know I'm a bad fan, have liked most Trek I've seen (esp. DS9 & Ent), but don't really see that as a bad thing.

I'm a long-time crank, but even I'm excited. Trying to keep my expectations low in the wake of the disaster that was Enterprise.

"Giddy" might be the word that best describes my reaction to the trailer / teaser.

I sincerely hope that J.J. Abrams pulls it off. "Alias" makes me wary, but his work on "Lost" gives me hope that we'll get something with action as well as some depth.

A little OT: how many times have you people watched the trailer? I think I watched it about 6 times in a row, including a few of the foreign language trailers.

This female Star Trek fan doesn't care one way or the other about miniskirts being used. My only hope uniform-wise is that we'll have a fight scene where Pine (or Quinto but sadly I don't think there's precedent for that) gets his shirt ripped to reveal a well-muscled sweaty chest.

You can have that if I can have miniskirts... unfortunately the only female in clothing I've seen so far was kinda... fully dressed complete with hat :-|
