Spoilers The game changing Voq theory

Would be hilarious if they were, though.

"Hey, wait a minute! Isn't ANYONE on this ship a real human?!?" :guffaw:

That awkward moment when everyones wearing the same genetically engineered outfit.

Or the ship has half a dozen altered spies from different species.

If you want this theory to the true, it's real easy to interpret Choose Your Pain's content to support it.

Independently and objectively, though, there's very little 'there' there.
On this, I'd like to point out that not everybody currently buying into this actually wants it to be true. Being half Kashmiri myself, I'd prefer to see Latif as being a great upstanding representative of the Federation than a Klingon spy. I'm still kind of hoping that what is going on is a misdirection, but so far I'm veering towards him being Voq as more likely than not at present.

I think the character is too good looking of a guy to NOT be the spy.

No way you cast a guy that good looking for their not to be some tense pseudo-romantic interest :: cough :: Michael :: cough ::

And no way a show on it's high horse of seriousness is going to let that go to waste without a spy-game involved.

I suppose L'Rell could have arranged for Voq to go undercover without actually knowing the fake identity they would arrange for him. So Tyler could be Voq without her realizing it.

*pause*

 Yeah, I wouldn't believe it either. Now THAT is "bid writing". ;)

If Tyler is Voq, then explain the fight scene between him and L'Rell.

Which, I might point out, had no witnesses.

They programmed him to believe he really is Tyler.

Not my theory and there's no evidence for it yet, but that's been a part of the Tyler-is-Voq idea from early on.

Kinda like replicant Obrien, surmised that he was a perfect clone but would be activated at the right time

If Voq is Tyler, then their procedure of giving him false memories would need to be very good, Tyler has been said to be suffering from PTSD from his time with the Klingons. Which I think we saw when he went berserk on L'Rell.

^Have to make it seem plausible. You can't have him waving and saying "See ya," as he heads out the airlock with Captain Lorca.

But L'Rell should. Are you suggesting she deliberately let him attack and nearly kill her (hell, he almost vaporized half her face!) just to maintain the cover?

If she is of a house of spies then perhaps.

Have to sell the cover. She also may not have planned to get near shot that day.

1) Tyler set up the time and place of their escape and his collapse on the floor in that location and said he was too weak to go on, knowing Captain Loco would return for him there. Notice how he suddenly got all his strength back to attack LL'RellJ? Could be anger-fueled adrenaline, could be a bit of pre-established theater to sell his story.
2) Lo'relai Killmore gave Tyler a distinct head nod before he attacked her signalling that he knew what to do.
3) The fight was actually witnessed both by a Klingon warrior (though he got green-misted) and Lorca, who walked in on the end of it when the tables had turned and stopped it by shooting off half of L'Oréal's face. But she can just put some concealer on it and it'll be fine.
4) Then L'Orca jumped out of hangar bay with Tyler and they were Free Willy, pursued by the worst shooting Klingon ships ever. These were the Stormtroopers of ships. Except like the time the Stormtroopers wanted Han, Leia, Chewie, and Luke to escape the Death Star alive and lead them back to the Rebel Base (or Discovery in this case), they weren't actually trying to kill them.

Or, like the others said, Tyler is brainwashed and doesn't know who he really is.

But the whole "Choose Your Pain" game seemed engineered as a trust building exercise and means of easy escape by putting armed guards in fist-fighting range. Plus, the fact that Tyler lied about his situation with L'Rell and was suspiciously unmarked until he needed to gain Lorca's trust, and that he waited for Lorca to arrive to make his move, leads me to think he might still be conscious of who the Voq he is. The dialogue between Tyler, Cadet Twitchy, and Michael BurningMan in the clip from the next episode also makes me think he might still know who he is.
