I haven't been inside a movie theater since Nov 2021. And I only did it twice that month. Before Nov 2021, the last time I was inside a movie theater was late Feb 2020 or early Mar 2020.
And I think that is why a lot of movies are not doing well in the theater. It is the new normal.

How much did NWH make when things were much worse?

People will turn out if they see something they care about. Top Gun. Avatar. GOTG3. Even bloody Mario.

I agree that people are far less likely to give something they're not sure about a chance than they were, though.

I use to go to almost every new release opening weekend. Not anymore because of Covid. I got use to waiting for streaming and saving my money.

well before covid, i could go to a movie on sunday morning and be $6..
Went and seen flash, $10, plus $2 "Convenice fee" to pick my seat, then taxes.. And thats on a regular screen. Sorry but, its getting to much, when I can wait a few months and pay the same price for the Whole Month of a streamer.

Only 3 other movies interest me to go see them this summer
Indiana Jones (Barely)
Mission Impossible
Meg 2

I enjoyed this movie. Some bits were cringe but it was the kind of big dumb fun I was expecting. Got emotional about the Mum-saving stuff. Loved the deepfake/CG cameos. Couldn't help but notice that, with 2 Barry Allan's, Ezra was referred to by they/them pronouns for most of the film:lol:

When I was a kid I think maybe once or twice a year I probably saw a movie at a 'first-run' movie theater. Most of the time it was waiting for the movie to leave the main theaters and make its way to the cheap second-run theater which was $1 up until like 1990 or so I think.

I think fastest would be around 4 months, but wasn't unusual to wait 6 months. Now wait like 2 or 3 months and the movie is on streaming and if you already have that service sometimes you are not paying anything extra then.

Dungeons & Dragons was like less than 2 months before going to Paramount+
Shazam Fury of the Gods and Black Adam were like around 2 months for HBO/MAX

Avatar sequel did take like almost 6 months to hit Disney+... but both Wakanda Forever and Quantumania were right around or under 3 months.

Liked it a lot. Miller was a stand out as the Barrys (Barries?). Created two distinct characters and hit the right emotional beats. Keaton was good a Batman, liked the spaghetti as metaphor for the multiverse. CGI cameos were decent. Slater was unexpected. Cage was kind of a hoot.

Yeah, we only go to the movies a fraction of what we used. The period between theater and digital release is so narrow nowadays. That and a string of several underwhelming moviegoing experiences and we've become very picky. This was a "might see", but it became an easy pass after a quick scan of several reviews.

I think you're missing out on a pretty good film.

So I just got back from this...it was enjoyable with Older Barry interacting with Young Pseudo-Stone Barry, Keaton and Supergirl.

....However, once we got to the "Time points that can't be changed" it just felt like a less impactful version of that What If? episode of Dr Strange destroying his Universe because he kept trying to save Dr Palmer.

Yes.

Also, there are no "organic" fixed points in the DC where the natural forces of the universe push back against you, there are just invisible assassins moving at super speed killing any one who tries to change a systemic fixpoint ordained by a cabal of time guardians.

Or you know, not. ;)
