So back when Team Hal Holbrook was evil and not "guardians," they were gonna kill off Jarvis' entire family if he revealed the truth to Martinez. And now Jarvis is working for the aliens. This is why they still needed Hal Holbrook, to torture and kill Jarvis' family because of this 180.

This show became a disappointment.
I had hoped it would be something new to watch develop, but now it's just so cliche.
At this point it's more of a Train Wreck, so I'm still watching (delayed) to see how bad it gets, but I wouldn't be if I even thought they'd make a season 2.

This show is all over the map.
What everyone here is in denial about is despite the appalling behavior of writers/producers, we/me stilll care about characters. DAMN THEM WRITERS TO HELL!
Is it all over the map? Yes. Does it make sense? No. Does it relate to season 1? No (except with extreme stretch of imagination).
Do I want to see how principal characters (Sophia, Martinez, Simon, Sterling) - the only characters I CARE about resolve?

Simon & Sterling are the standout characters for certain.
Sophia was initially intriguing, but has quickly descended into Batman-Villian Crazy.
Martinez seemed like he wanted to be liked at first even while appearing to stand for something greater... The ideal president, but when challenged, he just started doing what others expected he would never do instead of making the hard choices and sticking to his guns.
Shawn still isn't anywhere close to competent for the role he's in, Plus the guy who might of had answers shot himself in the head like a fool.
Showrunner on this pile of shite should be flogged.

Aren't many of the writers & producers actually from 24, so the parallels would make sesnse, no?

24 was actually a decent show. Just wasn't really my cup of tea.

The first season was really good, it had the most personal story and never reached the levels of crazy other seasons did. Further seasons tried to present bigger and bigger threats and Jack Bauer was made a superman. It was still mostly good until the very end, but in guilty pleasure sort of way.
Sad news, series has been cancelled.
But out comes a rumor that Netflix might pick up the show. Is Netflix going to turn into Netfix?

Like me, producers/writers seem to have forgotten first half. For anyone who's given up, this is update of what I can recall of season 1.5 (reboot) - you have to sort of forget season 1 even though it's referenced:Sophia is bad Sophia now Thomas is dead. Planning to eradicate humans as her race running out time...
Martinez went all badass against Thomas/Sophia but then Sophia put him in a coma, which he's now about to come out of...
VP was and still is a scumbag (he slipped Sophia's mickey finn to Martinez). His days are surely numbered...
Sean has teamed up with Vicky (raven-haired CIA gal), and duo now America's first line of defence against alien plots. Already foiled plot to release deadly plague in mall...but bad guys managed to release on bus (boo!!!)
Blake Sterling has teamed up with 'alien good-guy' Simon (yay!), and hopefully together they'll foil Sophia...
Blondie girl is being turned into living bio-weapon and her dad is dead...(who cares)
Creepy old guy (the great Hal Holbrook) is dead. Shot himself. Who cares because that c-plot going nowhere...
I think that sums up current position...but I'm still watching...

OK I done did it now. I finished the season, well series finale of The Event.
Not to give anything away, but all I gotta say is why couldn't the ending of this show have been the actual premise of the show the whole time? I would have much rather watched that show or at least wouldn't have minded a season 2 because as we all know this show wreaked of bad writing, over convoluted plot points, dislikable characters and cliches galore. Although flaws aside, could be improved on. Shades of the last season of Earth: The Final Conflict.
