The Event Season 1.5 *Spoilers*

Yep, either that or a Supergate:

This episode was not to bad. Just can't believe the minimal escort the Nuclear fuel rods had, WTF?

I wonder what would happen to the natives if Thomas brought his people over to Earth? Maybe that would bring unwanted alien attention to the planet?

Is anyone else still watching this?

Its mediocre but I keep watching because I hate to leave a story mid way through.

I assume its not getting renewed so hopefully some sort of resolution is coming

I've watched the first three episodes since the break... definitely the best work the show has done. Too little, too late though.

The first two episodes after the break while not the radical shake-up the show needed it was a step in the right direction unfortunately the last two episodes were two steps back in my opinion--far too much standard action and too little interesting revelations or characterizations. They just are plot devices moved around by the whim of the writers--it doesn't seem like there is any clear focus for any of the parties wrapped up in this lacklustre epic saga.

Last night's episode's big revelation about the aliens and why they came to Earth was a huge letdown--it was so tired--their world was becoming uninhabitable--I think we saw that golden nugget about a million times on Star Trek. I was hoping for something new and intriguing. Plus another hostage situation is coming next week just after the one in the two hour episode a few weeks back--it's boring once you've seen one hostage crisis you've seen them all. I'm done.

Too bad that The Event, Flash Forward, V, Surface, Invasion, Caprica are probably going to send the wrong message to networks--namely that highly serialized sff isn't popular with audiences leading to more procedural crime/hospital/law dreck--rather than what they should realize--namely it is the bad writing that is turning fans off not the genre.

Oh well I'll still have The Vampire Diaries as far as sff to watch.

^ To be fair Invasion got fucked over by ABC. They wanted a slow moving show, so the first 7ish episode are crap, and then it becomes great. The show wasn't badly written, just badly planned, because of the network.

Well I thought it was slow almost all the way to the end. It never really sparked for me. The alien threat was boring and the character drama was old hat I thought. So I consider it a fail and that's why I lump it with V, FF, Surface etc. It wasn't badly written perse but just very dull.

Those of you who didn't take too kindly to Taylor Cole for her thread last year are idiots! :p

This seemed like the moment for the President to go all Jack Bauer on the Vice President. Considering what's at stake, he can't just let him live if he won't help.

This is my favorite current sf series of the moment, and for all its many many faults still following as I like the actors and the fun of guessing what rabbit-hat-trick they'll try to pull off next :). And I think for once we're not that far behind in UK as compared to US?

I've liked the new eps so far - more action, less flashback - and intrigued where they'll go without painting themselves into a corner. My thoughts were: ok, so you're obviously human/'aliens' (from past/AU/whatever but in a different place) but not alien/aliens so can integrate (as you have). So why the big threat? Only theory was: there's so many of you there aren't enough resources for them and us. So one of us has to go. Darwinian survivalism.

There are supposed to be 2 billion Earth like plants in our galaxy alone, the aliens can't find another place to live?

After last week "Why not just get everyone on one bus?" lame ending I watched most of this week's episode.

What a mess.

Do these characters actually have morals or depth of any kind? They just completely change every 5 minutes to get the plot to move where they want it.

Sophia is now evil? Yeah the president killed your son because he thinks / knows you are invading the planet and do you think he is just going to sit back and let you?

Give me a break, it's so stupid.

The worst part is, the production values are so good on shows like this and V with good actors hired that you can't help but feel so utterly disappointed when none of that money goes to the writers...

That and Sophia was ready to kill Thomas a few episodes ago. And hey what's 2 billion more people we will 9 billion soon anough anyways. lol

I wasn't happy with Sophia's dark turn, but I understand it. She just found out her planet is dying and her son just blew up before her eyes. Hopefully she'll come to her senses before the season (*coughs*series) ends.

They also have no sense of time on this show. How long did it take Simon to drive from DC to their Southern California gated community? Or if it isn't supposed to be SoCal, how long did it take all of them to drive to the Los Angeles church for the meeting-turned-siege?

The week before, it was night on the east coast (when Sean and Vicky were doing their Vice President raid) and day on the west coast (during the siege), but when the aliens took out the Washington Monument, it was during the day. And then a few hours later, Sean and Vicky were in France.

And then people, and networks, get the idea that sci-fi doesn't work on network TV. It does, the writers need better pilots. 13 million people watched the first episode and by episode 4 it was 5.5 million. That's because the show is pretty shitty!

Just bring the 2 billion people here. If they told us what they were doing here 66 years ago we could have helped each other, they can use wormholes but can't make a moon colony? They have wormhole tech and our planet is the only one around? It's just silly.

And it's not just Sophia that changes, everyone's mood and tone changes 20 times and episode. The dad there is now on Sophia's side when before he was against killing humans. It's just stupid.
