The Eleven doctors fanart

Looking at the image again after a few days, my only real criticism is even though the intent is to present the Doctors in order, I think having Six in the middle, and the centre of attention, is somewhat inappropriate. I think having Eleven in the centre would make more visual and contextual sense. (But leave Ten where he is because I like the "spying on Judas" aspect - sort of like how in the BSG last supper photo Natalie the Cylon is shown looking accusingly at the character that kills her.)

Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed. Having the newest Doctor in the middle makes the most sense. Barring that, 10, 4, or 1 should be in the middle. Having six there, while good from a logical standpoint, makes him seem like the centerpiece, when he really isn't.

But maybe I'm nitpicking this thing to death. It really is quite nice.

...inappropriate? :wtf:

I think you're reading a little too much into this fanart. It's merely a depiction of the 11 known Doctors in reverse order. The Sixth Doctor just happens to be in the middle. So what?

This pic is fantastic, all the doctors look great, and I love the 7th and 6th doctor's subtle costume changes.

McCoy's costume is a very busy one filled with different patterns. It would probably end up distracting...

As oppose to The Fourth's busy scarf? Balderdash.

The scarf isn't busy, it's loud. There's a difference. The scarf is really only doing one thing, even though it's a BIG thing, whereas Seven's clothes had lots of smaller things going on.

I don't see a difference, and I'm a girl.

*shrugs*

I do see a difference. "Busy" implies that there are lots of little details to an outfit, whereas loud implies that it draws attention to one or two particularly notable things.

Something can be both busy and loud, though. The Sixth Doctor's outfit, for instance.

I won't debate the difference between "busy" and "loud".

Sci's right about the scarf; the scarf's only doing one thing: Being a gradient of colors. Doctor Seven's vest is throwing out a whole bunch of question marks at you and curvy lines.

If I were to analyze things even more I'd say that having Colin in his blue coat unifies the blue color scheme. You have Colin's Coat right into the TARDIS behind him and then it sort of wraps around in a circular pattern bluer at some points than others. If Doctor Seven had his goofy-vest on it would be complicated enough to draw your eye from Colin's coat. Just for a micro-second, of course, but those things are important. If Doctor Six had his old coat it would sever the blue connection. If Doctor Six had his old coat and Doctor Seven had his old vest you'd sever the blue color scheme and the Technicolor Nightmare would compete for your eye's attention with the vest.

Maybe if he went with a more earth-tone color scheme Six and Seven's costumes wouldn't look so out of place but blue is nice and spacey. (And this is the most I've ever analyzed a piece of fan-Art.)

I'm surprised, no attempts to manip it?

C'mon where's the Eleventh doctor's joker outfit and the Millennium falcon in the background?

where are the sombreros?!

No goddamn sombreros! :scream: :scream: :scream:

where are the sombreros?!

Not to mention signs pointing to 6 and 7 saying "Cannon violation" :)

That's a fantastic illustration. Great to see the extended universe beoing acknowledged in Doc 6's blue BF costume and Doc 7's NA suit. That's about to become my wallpaper.
