The Down Under Lounge

Quote from Pauline Hanson

Senator Hanson said it did not matter rich people would receive thousands of dollars in extra tax breaks under the government’s plan, because the proportion of the relief was small compared to their yearly earnings.

Who keeps voting for this person?

Idiots. Idiots vote for her. Or simply people who haven't thought things through.

I think Centrelink's reliance on the net is wrong. I can't be arsed jumping through their hoops. I blame Serco.

@Miss Chicken there's talk of cancelling funding for Dark Mofo. What's your take on it? It seems to be good for tourism, but some people are distgurbed by teh edgeh.

Nothing done for Black Mofo has upset me, not even a little bit especially not upside down crosses. The sort of people who complain about it have probably never visited MONA as they would not like much of what is on show there.

3.9C In Hobart at the moment. Just a little nippy.

Tasmania’s Eric the Legend is currently touring around Australia. He has even had a story in a country paper.

I'm not very good at Australian slang, or any kind of slang and having drinks listening to people talking in a diner / bar. Some of the stuff people talk about. Women are sloppy, was the term one guy was using to describe his date and how things went. She was sloppy.

I googled that and yeah what's with that? Why do men think that?

She was messy? Untidy? Not focused on what they were fdoing? I dunno, could be half a dozen things. My wife would say the same about me. "You put food on the tablecloth! Wipe your chin! You are sloppy!"

They’ve already stopped selling video games. I think easy access to other sources makes continuing to stock electronic media not worth it.

Kmart’s been going downmarket for a few years now. I don’t really feel the need to go in as much as I used to. I might buy clothes every now and then, but a lot of their homewares stuff just gives me a tacky/cheap vibe.

Yeah I know right?

But it's been that way for as long as I can remember, Kmart was always the cheap place to buy stuff even when I was a kid.

I hate the current set up in Kmart, which I assume is Australian wide? The checkouts in the middle of the store. I think they have far less products available than before the change.
