yeah that has really make a mockery of things.
thought abbott's knights and dames was a joke to begin with but this has made him a laughing stock.
Hopefully who ever replaces him as P.M will nix the stupid idea real quick.
Hell even Howard didn't go with a such an idea.

One conservative rusted on is saying that we should respect Prince Phillip because he's a 90yr old war vets and everyone knows we should respsect our elders.
Just got off the phone to my friend, the one who always moans. It seems we both disapprove of Prince Philip being knighted.
However that is where our agreement ends.
She doesn't approve of Rosie Batty getting Australia of the year because she doesn't think Rosie reacted in the right way for a mother whose son had just died. I approve of Her getting it because anything that raises awareness of domestic violence it OK with me.
She then said she was very angry at Jessica Rowe getting whatever she got (Order of Australia?). My friend said 'why should she get one just for hosting a morning TV show?'. not knowing who Jessica Rowe is because I never watch commercial TV I answered 'She probably got it because of whatever community work she does outside of her job'. I looked her up and found that she is a mental health advocate. Her mother suffers from bipolar disorder and Rowe herself suffered from post natal depression.

if they dump abbott, be sure to watch out for the sport of spin that would make Shane Warne proud.
Be interesting to see if News Ltd shit stirs the same way as when Labor was in office (even before the leadership issues some of their stories about Rudd consister of more falsehood than truth and that continued after Gillard took over).

In Qld news... I just did my postal vote for Saturday. With preferences vote for labor. I still have no faith that we'll win but I think we'll get my electorate back. The mood on the street is certainly very anti-LNP. I'm only know one person who feels strongly about voting for LNP (and their reason is idiotic). Everyone else with a view is voting Labor. I guess it depends on the "who cares" voters.
My seat needs a 5% swing and I've done my bit. I've moved from a safe LNP seat so at least this time my vote will count for something. Now just to wait for election coverage Saturday night... might buy a bottle of wine. I've got all my options covered then. I can drown my sorrows or celebrate our win.

So it's all eyes on QLD tonight, in what will be a very closely watched state election.
A horror result for the LNP will surely be all the ammo the Federal party room needs to remove Abbott (as if they needed any more).
I'm also interested in what will happen to Newman. The latest betting has him at $3.50 to retain Ashgrove, so he'll be a premier without a seat in a few hours. I wonder what will happen? Parachuted into the safest seat they can find I suppose. Will be an interesting victory speech to put it mildly.
Newspoll this morning has the 2PP at 52-48 to the LNP, with primaries at 41% LNP, 37% ALP. The ALP primary vote is way too low, especially with optional preferential voting, it won't be enough to get them there this time.
I have to say, this is the most extraordinary election pendulum I've ever seen. QLDers don't muck around when the vote out a government!
Interestingly they don't do it very often though -- there have only been nine changes of government in 100 years there.

yeah there seems to have been a big jump in the polling in favor of the LNP with both newspoll and reachtel. Maybe it's the different areas they polled because I haven't seen anythnig that would justify a big jump in the polls for Newman.
Though as for Ashgrove, the bookies might give good odds but the most recent opinion poll put it at 55/45 2PP to Labor.
and they haven't changed government that often due to gerrymandering. Labor first introduced it and the the conservatives tweeked to be fairer after winning in 1957 but not much as it became biased towards the conservatives.
And it stood that way with the conservatives governing through until Joh's corruption got too much and they were tossed.
